I'm a big advocate of reintroducing safe standing into the premier league. With the help of the FSF this is now gathering some momentum.

Not everybody's cup of tea I know, but the bottom line is that I think fans should be given a choice <ok>

Obviously this would safely increase capacity and offercheaper tickets.

My question, is would Arsenal be allowed to implement this, given that they were capped with a limit because of travel infrastructure and the local community?

Imagine how much better the atmosphere would be if we ripped out the seats in the lower tiers at each end and replaced them with safe standing - we'd increase capacity too and be able to offer cheaper tickers.

    Win win ?

Not sure, Utd have massively expanded OT and still have plans to extend it further. I'm pretty sure that we could negotiate with the local council and transport network to increase capacity.

Don't forget that OT isn't slap bang in the middle of a residential area

We are stuck with a 60,000 capacity which can't be increased because of the reasons you've given. If safe standing was introduced and ticket prices reduced for those who chose to use it i wouldn't mind betting ticket prices for seats would be increased to cover lost revenue.

Yep true. But I think the transport network around Emirates is good enough to handle an increase in capacity. If hypothetically Arsenal did decide to replace blocks 7-1O and blocks
    23 - 26
with safe standing based on the rail design, I think we'd only be looking at around 5k - 8k increase in capacity, so it should be able to be accomodated. I'm not sure on the local planning agreements in place about our capacity though ???

As far as i'm concerned it's lose lose.I normally sit in the Clock End lower and if the seats were ripped out i would have to buy a more expensive seat in another part of the ground.

If we weren't able to increase capacity, then I think you would be right.

If they were to rip out the seats, I'd be more than happy to keep them and save them the disposal fee
Has anyone actually been to a ground with comfier seats? I've got a bony arse so when I sit down on the usual fare it don't half get sore, but never had that problem at the Emirates
