You philistine there's some great places to eat in Amsterdam, but to be fair, a bit of local assistance helps in finding the best ones.
Yeah they are every where. The first one we arrived at had a massive queue. So we could just split up and go to the ones at each end of the street and meet again afterwards.
wanted to mate, but bit worried with getting lost, as those trams could take you ruddy anywhere lol, and cabby only told us about the night life, not the cuisine lol. we used to count how many bridges we crossed, sad i know, but we didn't get lost, except somehow ended up in red light district!!!! weird place i tell ya!
It's good that they're doing something positive, but they have to be careful not to compound the error they've already made. I realise they're targeting foreign players in an attempt to familiarize them with the culture they're playing in, but the assumption that our culture is right and theirs is wrong, is complacent and displays prejudices of their own. Obviously our sensitivity to the subject is a sense of guilt over our part in the slave trade, but it would be wrong to believe that slavery was only ever practised by white people on black. It has gone on for thousands of years, in most cultures, and generally has had little to do with skin colour. And before anyone feels inclined to jump down my throat on that, please do some research.
Oh yes it DID. Firstly, he specifically spoke in Spanish to 'exclaim' that Suarez's sister was a whore (1), and secondly Suarez maintains he called him a 'Sudac', a term as insulting as being called a 'gypo', and there was at least as much evidence to support this as there was to conclude that Suarez repeatedly called Evra 'Blackie, blackie, blackie' in a crowded goalmouth without any other player, especially the numerous ones who spoke Spanish, hearing a bloody thing. (1) Lost in the report was the fact that the language 'experts' from Manchester university confirmed that this was indeed an insult and not an exclaimation at all.
All true Saint. We are just in the unlucky position of being one of the last empires(to date), all others did so before us. We have apologised for our part in the history of slavery, it along with the holocaust are taught & must always be taught in our schools so revisionists can not come along and risk a repetition in future generations. We have laws that enshrine equality in all aspects of life. We largely have political & social institutions that wish to enforce those laws. We have a society that the majority of which accept & encourage & celebrate diversity. If educated it is illogical for a person born in the UK to hold racist beliefs. We are a mongrel nation as most Islands that were not isolationist (cough Japan cough) are. By raising one group higher than the rest no matter how good the intentions (be they guilt or an over zealous attempt at righting wrongs) leads back down the path of jealously & division. Our intentions as a society our clearly stated. All that is needed is enforcement & education. Nick Griffen like Powell & Hitler before him only sounds convincing if you do not know our & the larger worlds actual social & economic history. By censoring his right to be a bigot you censor my right to show him up to be a fool and a useful educational tool to my children that if you let it, history can repeat itself. Thus is why I'll always favour free speech but not free action. This is what I'm worried is being removed for all the best intentions. I think it romanticises the like of him in his own quarters, makes him a rebel. Have him & anyone else say it in the harsh light of day. Gets off soap box, removing hand from heart lol...
I find it hard to see how giving attention to ignorant bigots actually furthers the goal congruence that one day my children and grandchildren will one day look on skin colour as just another feature of a human being, like hair clour, height or eye colour. The sense of greivance fostered over what happens when overpaid, ignorant gobshite footballers indulged in a handbag fight that descends into mentioning skin colour is ludicrous when compared to the lack of profile of a lower-league footballer being repeatedly subject to worse conditions and treatment by his employer (albeit unconsciously) than any of his white colleagues. And that's just football. Inequality is a crime against humanty and a modern society. Elevating grubby and puerile spats of high profile Premier League players to the same status as Rosa Parkes is just self-defeating.
Yeah ok, just go into a shop in Tocky and ask for a box of Dutch chocolates called Negerzoenen(Negro Kisses). please log in to view this image
I went out with a ginger girl in my youth who had black, never mind brown, nipples. Sounds awful, but she was a cracker. Dumped me for a lad from Bradford she met in Mallorca...
So ginger hair, dark nipples & brown pubes.....mmmm, I don't think we need Columbo here, I think hair dye might be the key to his conundrum mate
Why would ANYONE dye their hair ginger? Tbf, she had a great figure and looked stunning in a black dress. Red hair and a black dress. Old memories now, I'm afraid....
I think you'll find that they now call them Zoenen. However, our society has plenty of examples of what is now consider 'non PC' the Robertsons Golly Wog being the most relevant comparison to your Dutch one & ours is the nation that in the 70's had this as a primetime 'comedy'; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqfB9Aw3IFk
