Open Question? As things stand we could win a spot in the play offs. I want your vote ( Hull and Leeds fans too ) as to, should away goals count as double in the event of it being a draw after both play off legs? My vote is yes but the Cardiff match last time could have something to do with how I feel. I bring this up now because,I think there is a good chance we will meet one of our good buddies there.
No for me mate, I like a level playing field without the added pressure on teams of conceding away goals.
Think it used to be away goals,... but the tv prefers more drama ..they dictate everything so it won't change..
I would have agreed with you a few seasons ago after Cardiff, but I agree- I think it would be unfair that a team that drew could be knocked out just because of the logistics of playing home or away. I always cite that ridiculous Chelsea-Barcelona game a few years back.
I like away goals from how the league cup used to do it. If level after 90 minutes of second leg then away goals came into play but extra time was still played That way one team would have to beat the other in extra time (other than away goals being equal) making extra time more exciting and teams weren't playing for penalties or scared to conceed.
I think they should enforce the "diving bastard Chopra" rule or the "take the free kick from where the foul was Whittingham you ****!" rule ... im not bitter or anything
I think any scenario should be used if it means the randomness of penalties is avoided. Away goals, golden goals, silver goals, bronze goals - anything! Maybe even the team that finished higher in the league should go through if it's a draw. It's madness that a club should lose out on millions of pounds worth of revenue on basically what amounts to the toss of a coin.
A don't know if the suggestion was tried but was certainly published. Each team loses a player every 5 minutes in extra time - down to a minimum of 7 and I think it was also a golden goal situation
how do they choose which players get taken off? And would the game stop every 5 minutes so that it could happen? I think its a ridiculous suggestion personally. I don't like penalties and always hope it never comes down to it but I can't think of any true suggestions that are particularly better and not equally as flawed
The manager chooses which player(s) comes off I didn't say it was a good suggestion but it was published at one point in the past. I think it was going to be trialled in Johnstone Paint Trophey (or what ever it was then)
