What about our set plays? Our long ball? Our poor defending? Our misfiring strike force which shows no signs of improving as a pairing? Never winning a game when conceding first? No away win all season? Only 6 wins in our 23 league and cup games this season? Persisting with Jonas game after game?

Just so many negatives for me mate, too many (hence me wanting him gone). Losing is a habit, given our run of fixtures getting out of that habit is going to be tough and I genuinely fear for our Premiership status under the current regime.

All fair points, and stuff I have noted and been really cheesed off about this season, although the winning from behind thing I reckon is a monkey on our back, kind of like our London hoodoo a decade ago. Its a good summary of all that is wrong with us this season, but for me this doesn't warrant a sacking, or rather sacking would not be the better option at the moment. I think this run will prompt Ashley to actually back Pardew this transfer window (which would be the first time since he joined!)

I don't think we will go down this season, call me complacent if you like but we are nowhere near as dire as we were 08/09 (and even then we almost stayed up ffs, not that it would have been deserved). We only won 7 games all that season, we have 4 so far in this. I reckon we can beat QPR. I so hope we beat Citeh, all of my in laws are city fans and we haven't beaten them since I met my wife, coming up for 6 years ago. And we've had some shocking luck.

Meh, I'm rambling now. Its past my bedtime, enjoyed the debate though.

I'm of the opinion that it should be a case of looking at who is moderating this board - I think that's where changes are needed.

How does all this negativity help anyone?

Sure, i'm as angry as the next Toon fan about the result tonight, but ranting over and over about the same things is pointless - Pardew is not going to be sacked anytime soon and a good job too. <ok>

Newcastle United will never achieve anything if we sack our managers ala Chelski style. It would be plainly stupid to do so.

I agree we're not playing well at all, the defending was poor for their winning goal... all very true. But surely even one as cynical as you can see that plain bad luck cost us that opening goal?

How long have you been a Toon fan? Can you not recall the massive instability of recent years?
It cost us our Premier League status and luckily we had Chris Hughton to guide us back at the first time of asking. Obviously you're of the opinion that we're going to get relegated under Pardew so I don't think i'm going to waste any more effort on you.

Stamford Bridge is still due south <cheers>

One thing I would say is your next set of fixtures is aweful.

    You've got:

    - Man City at home. More than likely a backlash after the derby.
    - QPR at home. Should win, but QPR are desperate.
    - United away. Very tough.
    - Arsenal away. Tough game althought, for some reason, I can see you getting something.
    - Everton at home. They're on a mission.

You'll do well to get 6 points imo.

Sorry I must have missed the bit where Mods can only post positive comments. It's not like I've launched a personal attack on Pardew, I've listed many things wrong with us this season and asked people to come up with a constructive counter argument.

Something the "Stamford Bridge" comment failed to do <ok>

We sacked Hughton and progressed so who's to say a new manager won't progress us? Of course it could go the other way if a new man comes in, but at the moment Pardew is doing very little to save a sinking ship.

There are plenty of counter arguments being offered, but you're so determined to be a negative Pardew hater, that you're simply not taking any notice of what's being written.

Moderators not taking any notice of what is being written, would suggest to me that their appointment was more than a little hasty. <ok>

Each to their own I guess, but would prefer to stay on topic rather than openly discuss whether or not you believe I'm a suitable Mod.

Hughton wasn't even granted a full PL season so it's impossible to say Pardew was a progression.

But, let's suppose Ashley followed your advice...

We finished 5th last season, so if we fall below that, we're not progressing so the manager must be sacked, right?

    <doh>

I'm hoping the irony of my Chelsea comments are becoming clearer to you.

I've said on many occasions that it's not necessarily the results I have an issue with. A team can finish lower in the league than the previous season and still progress. It's just at the moment I believe us to be regressing (rapidly)...things like the set pieces, the Ba & Cisse issue, Jonas playing every minute of every game etc, for me these are things that progress should be made on. Pardew should be spotting these issues/problems and ironing them out. Instead he seems to be trying the same set piece/formation/players over and over but hoping for different results.

Our board would be a very dull place if everyone shared the same opinion fella. So by all means disagree (it's what makes this place tick) but let's try and keep it healthy/friendly.

    Are you serious?

    <laugh>

I think it may be prudent for you to take some time to research the meaning of the word 'progress'.

Honestly, you're starting to sound like Mark Hughes and his 'progress' at QPR!

So say four Prem teams were bought out by billionaire owners, spent millions upon millions and we finished say 10th (lower than last season), but signed some good solid players (for arguments sake say Douglas, Remy, Debuchy & Zaha) and our style of football improved/developed that would be a sign of progress. It would be progress because our squad would be stronger and we'd be laying the foundation for future success.

Sometimes you have to go backwards before you can go forwards (as above).

Sorry but getting rid of Pards would be stupid right now. Injuries have been the main reason for lack of points, and we were not poor today.

We were unlucky not to come away with a result.

We're starting to pick up pace again. I think we will have to wait until 2013 before we start getting back up the table.

Chelsea also finished 5th last season (their lowest finish for years) but won the champions league and fa cup. I'd call that progress, wouldn't you?
