Semedo is a decent-good league one player. Wouldn't want him now we are back in the championship. Pritchard took his goal well, and it was nice to see the team go crazy when he scored.
The Semedo/Racon days represent poor times for the club. I would not want to regress back to that standard of player, that standard of ambition. Leave them in the past and move forward.
Unfair comparison. Stephens had the effective Hollands next to him. Racon only had Semedo. I went off Semedo in Powell's first season, but do understand what you're saying. I still don't think he would improve the midfield. I miss the song.
Fair comment, that is indeed his level, but whatever his limitations (couldn't pass, couldn't attack) we still won't have anyone as good to play in that position once Frimpong leaves and assuming Hollands doesn't get back to his best (and he couldn't get by with less in the Championship). I would prefer him there to Jackson, Pritchard or to Dervite, who may anyway find himself required as first-pick CB. Cousins and Poyet are at least one and two years away, respectively, while Stephens should be banned from approaching within 30 yards of his own goal. For that reason (only) I would welcome Semedo back. If we can do better in the window, then great, but no signs of it at present. In fact I have an uneasy feeling CP may start playing Solly there and Wilson at RB. It's the way he keeps saying how Solly can play "anywhere" (rather than "either fullback position"). And that would allow him to keep his "project" in the team at RM.
Solly used to play there at times for the under-18's with some success so I can follow your train of thought.
I think both Frimpong and Dervite are far better options at DCM than Semedo. Dervite has all the same qualities as him, yet also offers an attacking threat and is comfortable with the ball at his feet. I don't really think I need to highlight how much better Frimpong is than Semedo. An 'at his best' Hollands is far superior to Semedo, though when he isn't at his best, he's equally, if not more ineffective. Think people are also forgetting Hughes (don't blame em...) who IMO is at about the same level of ability as Semedo, but is seemingly a far far greater asset in the changing rooms. ...so in short, I don't miss Charlton's former favourite crybaby.
Well they love him at Wednesday and he's been their best player this season somedo is def good enough for this league
Frimpong will leave in the New Year, and Dervite may well replace Cort as first-choice CB for three reasons, he is quicker, he is young and hopefully still improving, and he is a natural left-footer allowing Morrison to play on the right. No reflection on Cort who has been terrific this season and may still get picked where we expect an aerial bombardment. Hughes will be lucky if he has a future in the game at any level. He is history as far as the Addicks are concerned. And he wasn't particular popular with our supporters when he did play, unlike Semedo. I remember all the groans when the teams were announced with his name in it. So he's been a fan's favourite at his two most recent clubs for a few seasons. Maybe we need more crybabies who show heart and fight to keep the fans happy. And I wouldn't be too cocky about our superiority over the Massive. We are playing them in less than two weeks and you might get an unpleasant surprise. No outcome would surprise me when you look at the results we have seen in this division to date. The truth is there is only a ***paper's difference between any of the teams and every match could go any way.
Wednesday fans disagree. So too does Dave Jones it seems. Was on the bench on Saturday. Not missed. http://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/185733-jose-semedo/ Maybe we could develop a rivalry with Wednesday and sing the same song for Pritchard. Brad Pritchard wooooah. Brad Pritchard woooooah. He comes from Zimbabwe. He ######### hates Wednesday. There you go. A player who seems a nice man, playing his heart out, and he hates our massive enemies. I'm not sure Ronaldo hates Millwall. I'm genuinely surprised some people think we should go back to Semedo if/when Frimpong leaves. Good shout on Alex Song, Mary. Sort it out Powell.
Hate to contradict you but this thread on Owlstalk says otherwise... http://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/184496-jose-semedo/ Seems he's been found out in this league (just as we all said he would be).
I stand corrected then but I have to Wednesday supporting acquaintances and they love him and they did have somedo day a fortnight ago
Well, he is leaving, isn't he? Even before he signed it was stated it was already arranged that for him to go to Stoke in January. I don't think anyone here is suggesting Semedo is coming back. For a start he isn't available. I just think it was a bit mean to divert a thread on Bradley Pritchard to start attacking Semedo when he was one of our few committed players and had to play alongside a bunch of cripples and money-grabbing conmen. And particularly inappropriate when, for all his limitations, we still don't have anyone better in that position (who will be with us in January). When a team is struggling the fans will turn on individuals unreasonably. Two months ago we were in much the same position and there was plenty of criticism on here of Hamer, Cort, Jackson, Pritchard, Stephens, BWP, Kerkar, and others, and even some questioning of the Blessed Saint Christopher himself (not all by the same posters, of course). A few points on the board and it has mostly melted away. If you read further on the Wednesday boards you will see that there is hardly a player who is not being attacked by someone or other. If Semedo helps them beat us he will be a hero again. That's how fickle fans are.
Talk now is he may go back and stay at arsenal. Fancies his chances of getting in their side, though coquelin seems to be ahead of him. If wenger tells him otherwise then I expect his loan to stoke to be pushed through. They've been following his loan, as well as villa.
Thanks for the swipe. People did suggest that they would want him back in January if/when Frimpong leaves. Who stated that it was already arranged for Frimpong to go to Stoke? Link please? I don't expect him to stay, mind, but without a link, I'll stick to "if/when" Did I attack him? I just said he had already been improved on. By someone who himself has struggled with the step up. On the topic of 'money grabbing conmen', remind me, I remember a player at Charlton who was one of the top 3 earners, way out of line with the rest of the squad (according to Richard Murray), who declared that he loved the club, could never leave and wouldn't be the same at any other club. I'll give you a clue. He said the same to the good people of Sheffield a year later. Not that I desperately want to attack him. He was probably the best player in the playoff season and one of the very few good things in the following season. I wish him well and hope he can turn it round at Hillsborough. Anyway, I think Bradley Pritchard is great. Seems like a really good guy, and I like watching him buzz about the pitch. Can see why some fans would prefer another player in the team, but he's so committed and such a great guy that I couldn't agree when I was able to get to matches. Will hold my opinion on him now that I can't get to see him. Was delighted for him when the goal went in.
I was told by his cousin he would be joining stoke in january. Haven't seen anything on any site, but passing on what I was told
