QPR's problems can't be solved by money alone, claims hill
The Rs defender believes that the club's ongoing turmoil cannot be solved by throwing cash at the situation and has warned that any new arrivals must be prepared to work hard

Clint Hill believes that spending big in the January transfer window is not the neccesarily the way to ease QPR's Premier League relegation woes.

Harry Redknapp's men currently sit rock bottom of the division and a 2-2 draw with Wigan on Saturday saw the Hoops' winless run stretch to 16 games, setting a new Premier League record.

The west London club narrowly avoided relegation last season and have found themselves in similar turmoil this campaign, despite investing heavily over the summer.

“The chairman is throwing money everywhere, left, right and centre and sometimes that doesn’t work,” he told reporters.

“You’ve got to stick with people and work on them and try and get the best out of the ability they have.

“You can look at it two ways. You can think ‘Oh my God, how the hell are we going to get out of this?’ or you go ‘let’s prove people wrong’.

"If we do manage to do it, what a record and achievement it would be when you’re sitting in your armchair in 15 or 20 years’ time. So we’ve got to be up for it. If you’re not up for it, don’t come here.”

You'd want him beside you in the trenches, unlike some I could mention...

Exactly. If Nelsen gets injured we know who the next captain should be.

Agree 100% with Clint. Really admire him.....bit of a criticism of our Tone though. A lot of that about at the moment!

Look at it this way, if we go down we'll hold on to Clint, Derry, Mackie, Nelsen and prob Green. Not a bad 'spine' to the team

They're pretty old right now and aren't getting any younger. I don't say that they're aren't good but I would prefer not to go down

We need to have won a few before the window opens anyway.

No confidence then the new players just get dragged down.

With the confidence, a couple of newbies add more belief that we can do this.

That's exactly the way we should look at this - a chance to rewrite history.

Amazing that we are here yet again:
After a fantastic season during our promotion campaign - "thanks a lot Clint but you're not good enough for the PL" was the verdict from most on here.
Then, after surviving last season thanks to the efforts of Hill and co - "thanks a lot Clint but you're clearly too old now"
Now, as we are arse deep in another crises guess who is leading the way again?

No wonder he feels able to dish out the odd snide comment about player acquisition.

Yes, I'm with you on this. I never understood why Clint was not starting games at the beginning of this season, not in Hughes teams or in most of the ones put up by posters on here, like he'd wasted away in the summer or something. He was the first CB I chose from our squad, though I agree now Nelsen is as good, but about every other CB in the squad was put in front of him including Ferdinand and Onouha. Nevertheless we need another CB January - someone quicker and who knows what playing CB is about, to play alongside Clint or Nelsen.

Why is Onouha not right back? Bosingwa is dire and doesn't seem bothered by any managerial change. Most of MH's acquisitions are overpaid and not performing, so we are left with his legacy of poor performances and buys. My thoughts are that we should bring back DJ during January to fulfil the role that AJ was bought for. Harry doesn't seem to rate Hoilett, anyone know why? He can play in the hole behind Cisse/Mackie and must be worth a try, but obviously Harry must see something else.

Quite right but we do need a forward or two. Loan signings will do

You're conveniently leaving out the fact that Hill clearly insinuates that all the big name wasters and frauds should never have been signed in the first place.

Doesn't quite tie in with your theory that Mark Hughes' signings were great acquisitions. You can't have it both ways GAY LORD.

If we can just find someone to score 10 goals after xmas - we stay up. newcastle had a good season last year simply as they had someone scoring goals all season.

Now why didn't we think of that? Come to think about it why didn't Hughes? When you cut out the waffle, the systems and the tactical homework dossiers, it really is that simple. Getting the ball from one penalty area to the other is all well and good. What then MARK HUGHES? Oh yes. it's in front of you. Shhoooooooooooooooot......Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllll
