    Hey guys!
Dire situation we find ourselves in, although under Harry we are unbeaten in three, accumulating half the points Hughes did.
Scoring is a problem, with us only having one striker surely it would be wise to recall forgotten man DJ. Campbell.
He has scored eight in twelve- more than anyone here at the moment albeit in a lower division- in a team battling just like us.
Would he worth bringing him back as he never got any real playing time with us.
    What do you guys think?
Could be like a nice signing...only free! What's to lose?

We have to wait until January because he's not in the 25, but think we need 2 more stikers then. Hope he stays fit and can score in the PL again.

I'm just afraid that if we get more old players they'll end up injured and we'll be in the same place again.

I think we know the answer to the question on a number of levels.

1 Hughes did not have the foresight to build in a power of recall. But he did foresee that those two old crocks Zamora and johnson would comfortably last the season without any injuries.

2 He clearly did not rate him to give him even the chance to impress him. Helguson was given that chance scored and created masses, then got a knock and was neverseen again.

3 He was not the only one. Many fans have judged DJ on the back of a couple of shortish appearances at the start of the season before his lengthy lay off and then his inability to set the world on fire in the 1 possibly 2 games he played while still returning to complete match fitness. Those critics blamed him for the fact that in the mean time others, notably Jamie Mackie and Heidar Helguson had grabbed their chance. Cisse and Zamora then arrived. Why Hughes never even considered it worth giving DJ a chance during one of Cisse's enforced absences is quite beyond me.

IMO he was an extremely competent scorer for Backpool in the Championship and then their season in the top flight. He has never been given a chance with us for reasons which were completely outside his control. He shoudl be given that chance in January. He will provide some much needed competition for Cisse. If it does not work out at least we will know and can then sell him on. However nobody has proved to me yet that he is not up to the demands of scoring in the PL.

Might as well give him a chance. We're pretty much doomed anyway and loan signings probably won't make much of a difference; and I don't wanna see anymore 'big' signings on massive wages coming in.

The other advantage is that he is a boyhood QPR fan. Surely that must mean that extra few percent effort over and above the 100% everyone should be giving anyway?!

Yes, definitely bring him back from Ipswich loan, if possible, in January. He is obviously fit now, full of confidence, scoring goals and could well prove to be our "fox in the box" snapping up those goal scoring opportunities that are currently being squandered.

    Loan striker wants Town move
Queens Park Rangers, Last updated: 13:42, December 10, 2012

    Premiership, Queens Park Rangers
Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy says on-loan QPR striker DJ Campbell wants to stay at Portman Road permanently.

Campbell has impressed in the Championship for the Tractor Boys so far this season and scored his seventh and eighth goals for Town while on loan in the 3-0 win over Millwall on Saturday.
He does not appear to have much of a future at Loftus Road and is way down the pecking order. McCarthy has confirmed the much-travelled striker does want to stay on at Portman Road beyond his current loan spell, which ends in January, although the boss admits there could be interest in him from elsewhere due to his good goalscoring form.
"They [other clubs] will have all noticed DJ scoring goals here but there is nothing we can do about that," the Town boss told the Club website.
"All we can do is try and do a deal with him. He wants to stay long term at a club and I think this club would be his first choice, with things starting to go better.
"But there are a lot of mitigating circumstances that can change that situation."

"" is way down the pecking order"" is a load of b*llox when we only got 1 fit recognised striker until well into winter.

TBH If we're well adrift by Jan and heading one way down then we'll need him for the remainder of the season and into the Championship. AJ may never fully recover from his injury and I can't see us actually 'buying' anyone, we'll get Keane in on loan.

Don't forget we also have Hulse and Bothroyd due back in Jan

Currently on the books then -

    Cisse
    Zamora
    AJ
    DJ
    Hulse
    Bothroyd

Unless Arry cuts em loose I can't see any actual purchases

Why not give Hogan Ephraim 20 minutes up front and see what he can do?

He is supposedly a CF by trade after all.

I'm hoping this is a joke/sarcasm: wide, maybe, but up front no thanks. 442 on sat perhaps, Cisse and Mackie: no need for so many ineffectual midfielders IMO

Good lad is Ephraim, but including him in an already midfield-heavy squad when he has virtually no chance of playing was a totally short sighted waste of a good squad place IMO. Personally I never understood DJ not making the squad in the first place, but I'd have him back in January for sure. He's not been given a fair crack at QPR, and in the rare appearances he has made he has often been hampered by niggling injuries, so it's been hard to judge him. But his time at Portman Road shows that he can still do a job (even if that job is getting us promoted from the Championship next season!).

Not sure anyone called for him to be dropped that I can recall? He was always injured or had a virus i recall?? I always thought he never really got a run in the side.

Bothroyd on the other hand was tosh and rightly sent to Weds where he fell out with the fans over his attitude

Not sure that's right. He never played a full 90 minutes, started in the opener I think and the odd subs appearance fro 10-30 minutes, several weeks apart. He played at MKDons and was clearly not match fit. But then why single him out. I wasn't there and did n't see the highlights but weren't they all ****e that day. Apparently that was the game when it was proved to Tony that Warnock had lost the dressing room.

I do agree with you that since some on here started wetting themselves over the exotic names that kept miraculously appearing on Hughes' shopping list, they thought that he was n't good enough for us. More shame on them.
