I'm not having that. Hoddle was a great player, way ahead of his time. He was composed on the ball, possessed lots of technical ability and was everything your average English player isn't. Slightly ahead of my time but I still have seen games he played in. Gazza was brilliant. People compared Rooney to him but for me there is no comparison. Had he not gone off the rails he would have been hands down the greatest English player of the last generation (Scholes era). Can't say much for Ardiles and Villa but they were big names on big money and contributed to the success of Spurs in that 80s era. I can't say I like Spurs (nor Arsenal & West Ham for that matter) but if you deny Hoddle and Gazza's talent you aren't real of fans of football IMO.
When Hoddle moved to Monaco the French couldn't understand why England had a player nearly as good as Platini and were selecting Robson and Wilkins ahead of him.
I think you have had some very good players . Pav , Modric . Defoe are all very good players. But "great" has to be reserved for the truly great players. And i wouldnt even stick Van Judas in that list .
I would like to confess that I thought Hoddle was a fantastic player. Shame he played for the wrong team!
we lost a point at newcastle in the last 6 minutes, 2 points v norwich and wba in the last few minutes, a point v city in the last 2 mins, 3 points today...thats 9 sodding points lost in the last 6 minutes of games... How the **** are we above you????????????
Just like last season, both of us remain within each other, because we've both been so bad on form, if just one of us was on form, we'd be miles ahead.
Letting in late goals is going to be a massive problem for Spurs. Other teams now know that they can push until the final whistle against Spurs and when they are defending a lead in the final ten minutes, their players will have it in their heads and they will drop deep like they did today.
So if we are lacking 'bottle' but still have more points than you, then we clearly have much better players? That would be a bit odd since you pay yours far more. The reality is that both our squads are not good enough to live with the Manchester clubs, who have better players who make fewer mistakes so drop fewer points. The match lasts 90 minutes - not sure why losing goals in the last minute is better or worse than losing them in the first minute.
I said it a while ago and I'll say it again none of the London clubs are good enough to go on a 9-10 game unbeaten run as the Manchester clubs are capable of, or even 5 in a row IMO. From 3rd-7th it's going to be awfully tight.
so much for bragging rights... "we're slightly less **** than you!" don't really have a good ring about it does it
