Here is the story. Mourinho is on his way out of Real at the end of the season. Rafa having been out of football for a bit took the Chelsea job to get his name out there again and is now the bookies favourite to get the Real job he's always dreamed of, Xabi Alonso fully aware that he could be managed by a manager he lost respect for (being dropped for attending his child's birth, being offered to clubs around Europe) is still refusing to sign a new contract. Xabi is on record as saying he'd love to come back to Liverpool as he has ''unfinished business''. Brendan has a passing philosophy that is tailor made for Xabi and is known to be a fan of Alonso too. So it's all set up for the return of the Pass Master. please log in to view this image Here is what will happen in reality : Rafa will take over Madrid and tell Alonso he can go, Alonso will issue a come and get me plea to Liverpool. Brendan will announce a special player coming home. The yanks site will have Alonso pics and story of his signing. Henry will say no he's too old and we wont make a profit on him. Jay Spearing will return from his loan with Bolton.
All probably will happen. If it goes down exactly like this will you bump this thread to the top in August? Then will you have to ban yourself?
I know what you mean. Someone told me he's the manager of Chelsea now. I laughed at that person. as if Rafa would be the manager of Chelsea.
He is a madrista, started out in their youth academy in coaching, still has a big name in Spain for what he did with Valencia, can deal with ego's well enough, delivers in the CL, knows the league, will have the money to spend.
Proven in La Liga for winning it without being either Barca or Real. And he knows how to beat Barca (Bellamy golf swing ....) ....
BBBut he's a fat spanish waiter ....he couldnt get Torres to score in his first 3 games nevermind the 4 in 2 games now he failed in the first 3
Ah right, I forgot, ya he will surely fail at Real if he went there. I mean, if he only gets Torres to score 4 in 5, I don't think he could get Benzema or Ronaldo to score at all.
Say everything you say will happen happens. The yanks, maybe for the wrong reasons may end up right. 1) is Alonso world class? Yes 2) is Alonso 31? So we'd now have 3 of the 3 midfield positions taken up by "undropable" players. Where do all our young midfielders develop to become world class? While we have two ageing midfield players attempting to play the pass & move game week in week out, They all leave or at least we're left with the mediocre ones happy to sit on the bench. No ambition. After going through a painful clear out and in sight of making our pay structure more realistic with a young team; is bringing in a guy who will demand world class wages or his last big payday plotting for the future? Or do you think Alonso alone with the players we have (his wages will blow our budget so no additional summer signings) will provide a big enough push to guarantee champions league & the extra cash for better players. Don't get me wrong: I'd love Alonso playing for us right now but we've embarked on a course that I think would be disrupted by his return. I think it would be an expensive risk for one player. Unless of course he's willing to take a big pay cut & BR grows enough balls to keep the development of our youngsters going which would mean these two not always guaranteed starts . If price is right it would be hard to say no.
