I just don't understand the animosity. When Lambert came here we were bottom of Div 1 and weeks away from administration - when he left we were established in the Premiership. If he had not performed that miracle we would have probably gone down the route of Portsmouth or Plymouth so how can we now boo him? Is it because he decided to make what he saw as a career move? Whether he made the correct decision is up for discussion but you can't blame him for taking what he saw as a career oportunity. Villa is a bigger Club - get over it!! Some people say it is because he is suing us, conveniently overlooking the fact that it is a counter claim as we sued him!! If he wins his case and is proven innocent will we start booing McNally for costing us so much money? Amazing most of the anti Lambert brigade then go on to say that Hughton is a better Manager. If that is the case then surely we should thank Lambert for leaving and giving us the chance to appoint Hughton? I, for one, will quite happily applaud Lambert.

the animosity is obviously entirely down to the way he left as opposed to what he did for the club and i, like you 1950, cannot really understand that animosity. lambert was a massive part in our clubs history, despite only sticking around for three years, but he's gone, we've replaced him and everything moves on. i was of the opinion that people had gotten over lambert following the arsenal game - there was always going to be a hangover because a) he did so well and b) he left under a cloud, but seriously, some people need to get over themselves... its only football <ok>

Just for curio, but how many of you think that we would be in a better league position right now if he who shall not be named had stayed ?

Personally, I think we've come out of this a lot better than him !

<laugh> i was just about to post something similar!

obviously its incredibly difficult to judge as so much has changed but i don't think we'd have as many points as we do now. whether we'd do better over the whole season i don't know. what i do know is that i wanted hughton the minute lambert left and despite a difficult start, my initial faith in him has been paid back quickly. we are a million times better defensively than we ever were under lambert and although we've sacrificed some of our attacking muster, we are still a very threatening side going forward and by building from the back, hughton has given himself time to tinker with the forward play until it fires on all cylinders.
