If Evans continues to improve over the course of this season and next we will have quite the player on our hands.
I have to say, when Evans was getting bullied off the ball back at Elland Road, constantly losing possession and Leeds counter-attacking because of it, I thought he was too weak for that role. But since the games have gone along, he's gotten much, much better. He seems to have had some sheer confidence injected into his game, and he's really showing how well he can play.
It's worth remembering Evans spent the first part of the season playing catch-up following injury during pre-season.
Evans has vision to see a good pass, not many do and it's not something that can be taught. Sadly his actual kicking the ball ability doesn't match some of th passes he sees so they often go astray. His technique can improve when worked upon and he shouldn't be encouraged to always play simple rather encouraged to improve to be able to play those harder passes. Think there's a potential Scott Parker in there, bit different but very similar...
I think Meyler is a very capable player. I don't think he is the most talented, but like McLean, it's his attitude and team spirit that means he is worth his weight in gold. Evans formed a very good partnership with McKenna last season, so I think it's simply the fact that Evans has a partner in the "Dirty Engine Room" of midfield that helps him, rather than it being anything specific to Meyler. Also worth remembering that Evans has a very specific role to play that will often not allow him to exhibit his creative abilities. You rarely find him out of position which makes him a managers delight. This is something I think Brady has also matured to learn over the last 12 months. His more restricted role as a wingback has, in my view, been the making of him.
Brady was very good at times last season too. He just ended his spell with us pretty poorly and people forget what he was like before that.
Brady was poor for far longer than he was good last season, whether that was down to management, his position or himself is up for debate. Though it's probably all 3. The point is he's been very good so far this season and hopefully he will maintain it this time around.
