I can't argue with the stats. But the big question is, how will he be able to adapt to a more physical league, and will our style of play suit him?
Its not really much more physical than Germany which is full of big athletic sides. He's scored 36 in 56 for the Netherlands who play a simular style to us. Also Schalke are a pretty good passing side. I think he would do a great job. I would be very happy with having Huntelaar/Giroud and Podolski as our CF options.
Well ..he's certainly superior inside the box. He scores more goals and has now replaced RVP as the first choice CF for the Netherlands "Through my eyes and in my opinion Huntelaar has always performed well for Holland while van Persie hasn't," said van Gaal. "In the 4-3-3 system, with Arjen Robben on the left flank and [PSV Eindhoven's Luciano] Narsingh on the right, then I choose Huntelaar as striker." "He gets my trust because, in my vision, he is still the best player." Both seem to have pushed on a level over the last 18 months. I guess we will see if he does come to the EPL.
Thats like the old arguements comparing RVN and Henry. Similar goal scoring records but one is a far more talented footballer
Kinda. But as always with these comparisons it's all subjective. They are different. RVP is one of the most technically gifted players in the World and Huntelaar is one of the best finishers. At the end of the day what defines a player is how well they do their 'job'. As a 'Centre Forward' your 'job' is to score goals. That's why I think its a fair comparison. Not just that but people dont realise how well Huntelaar is now playing in Germany - He's been sensational.
Probably more like the comparing of Henry and RVN (at his peak) back in the day. Both great players, but very different. RVN meaning Ruud Van Horseface.
That's true, as players such as Huntelaar and RVP are very different, as were RVP and Henry. One player may rely on their physical attributes, whereas another is gifted and very skillful. Same example with boxing, you have Pac and Marquez. Pac is a physically gifted offensive boxer and Marquez is a highly skilled counter-attacking boxer. Both great fighers for very different reasons.
Today we're getting linked to Nani (as Dave said) and Demba Ba. Sounds like he (Ba) turned down a contract offer and wants to head south. Good choice. If he's available, he might be worth a look, depends whether we get Huntelaar or not. Personally i'd prefer the Hunter. Ba is probably the better footballer, the Hunter is by far the better goalscorer. We need goals, not footballers. We have enough of those as it is. Nani can go fcuk himself.
