I would be disappointed if we let Sagna go. He has been one of our most consistent quality player for years. Even our most sought after talents had quite a big percentage of bad days, but Sagna rarely if ever dipped below his 90%. And this season he came after a leg break to almost full form in 2 games. He is quality, don't try to rationalize that this won't be a loss for us based on a fluke performance or two... When Song went I kind of did this kind of rationalizing too saying "we have this guy and this other guy there which are asgood/better than him" but at the end of the day the lack of depth and inability to rotate in midfield after Diaby's injury has ultimately cost us quite a bit so far. Song would have been an excellent choice in some of our fixtures this year.
http://wearethenorthbank.com/the-latest-on-walcott-is-the-writing-on-the-wall/ One of the most reliable.
We'd be ****ing stupid to let Sagna go. Someone on here once said that there were 5 better RBs in the Premier league than him, that was ****ing stupid too
I remember that, I don't think it was an Arsenal fan though, I think it was one of those deluded Scousers, but I digress. Sagna has consistently been the best RB in the Premier League for the majority of his time with us. All though he is getting on in age, and he will lose speed, he is still a top class player that we should keep, I will be dissapointed if he leaves, but not too saddened as the emergence of Jenkinson gives me high hopes for the future of our RB position, he is definitely worthy of replacing Sagna, and possibly surpassing him.
He claimed to be an Arsenal fan . . . I think Jenkinson is a good emerging RB and looks like he'll get better too, but Sagna is one of the best. He's still got 2-3 seasons at the top level and we'd be mad to let him go.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...Palace-teenage-Wilfired-Zaha-in-new-year.html Really do not want this. When we were in decent form, I was not against it, but this team needs players who can come and help them NOW. We can't afford to waste money on unproven potential when this team now needs proven quality.
I don't think we should get too excited about the Jan window. It's a notoriously difficult time to sign quality players. I think we'd do well to hang onto Walcott and Sagna and I'd be pretty happy with that
i would be satisfied with zaha and a dm tbh. Speaking of zaha how about this for a run http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJ1Xcwid7Y4
Not this window and the players we would be looking at. Huntelaar or Ba upfront will both be available on the cheap, as will a young defender such as Papa or Santon. DM which we need more than anything else will be difficult - although I still say Fellani 20mn+ or mvilla 20mn+ but not sure if we can get them in Jan. I hope Wenger goes for it. If I could I would do the following Ba - 7.5mn + 80k wages Fellani - 25mn + 75-100k wages Santon/Papa - 10mn 50k wages. Offer Lorente, Holtby contracts as they will have 6 months left. If this happens put Cham, Arshain, Squillachi, Djourou , santos all on dirt cheap transfer piles (may not generate much cash say 15mn if we are lucky but will clear 200-300k in wages) - note this may also take till summer to do. But it would mean 15mn and 250k wages saved 42million out and 250 in wages out. Holtby and Llorente (if llorente looks like he is going elsewhere get Huntelaar) - 10mn in signing bonuses on top of wages of 200k combined. (savings of 30-40mn in transfer fees).
It would be great if we could do all of that, I'm just saying that we shouldn't get all Nora Batty if we don't do much business
Fellaini for 20+ mil and 100k wages? I think not. We paid 10mil for Artea and made him take a pay cut! Isn't he on about 70k? Even if we forked out on the transfer cost there is no way we would be paying anywhere near 100k a week. He would be on similar wages to the other midfield players - i'm thinking about 70k is probably about right.
Apparently (various sources) we are close to signing Huntelaar. Would be a massive signing, he seems to getting better every year and would give us that cutting edge we have been sorely missing. He may be 29 but he's just the kind of striker than has another 5-6 years at the very top level. Every bit as good as RVP in fact there's alot of debate in Holland as to who should be their first choice CF these days.
Huntelaar is a good player but he isn't in the same league as RVP. Also will he fit our system? He comes across as a target man mostly and we don't play that way. Though it would be a welcome change if someone was in the fecking box for those tap-ins! On a side note, does this signal the end of Walcott? As we know with our club, it's usually one in, one out regardless of the players importance. I don't mind a bum player leaving, but one of our best. Not good business which ever way you look at it.
I diasgree. Currently, Huntelaar is just as good. He's not as technically gifted but is more physical and an even better finisher. Possibly the sharpest player in the box on the planet. In an very strong German league Huntelaar has been smashing in the goals. He also seems to be a MUCH better all round player than he used to be. Also check out his stats.. Apps: 398 Goal: 258 - Seriously except for Ronaldo and Messi his goal scoring statistics are a match for anyone's. (RVP... Apps: 374 Goals:166) If we buy him he'll score a **** load in front of our midfield, I'm sure of it.
