Regarding the Cardiff/Swansea Welsh thing. The question as to whether either has Welsh players is totally irrelevant. Without checking, I doubt Arsenal have got any English players for that matter. At least Aaron Ramsey is Welsh. Cardiff's Malaysian ownership blah di blah, that's another complete irrelevance - who owns the two Mancs? No guys, think again, this is all about the only people that matter - the supporters. Swansea or Cardiff, both have passionate local support no matter who dishes out the dosh or kicks the bloody football. The rivalry is just as intense as it was years ago. C'mon, guys, we've both got good teams in the Championship that can play the game properly and not lump it about like Leeds. Forget the "foreign legion" remarks - you've only got to look at Zola's imports at Watford to get a reflection upon what's going on in football. Let's talk about matters on the pitch cos that's where it'll be won or lost.
Cardiffs owners and the mancs? I don't see the comparison? Other than them all being foreign (we also have a forgeign owner). None of our owners are ****heads have thrown tradition into a boiling cesspit and changed the colour and badge of the team including removing completely the famous bluebird which made them unique. What place do these tiny Asian ****s have to come into our own country and rewrite over a century of tradition? ****s.
You can't change history or tradition. We play in red and black now - so what? After 10 years of sailing close to the wind (and sometimes beyond it) with Hamman and then Ridsdale, close to bankruptcy and even extinction, we find ourselves with owners possessing more moral fibre and honesty than we ever thought possible. I wouldn't expect anyone outside the club to appreciate that, but the bigots will always rise to the surface. Looks like Bullshit floats too.
When I first read the title of the thread I thought they were moving stadiums. My first thoughts were Malaysia. I hear it has some lovely stadia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Stadium,_Bukit_Jalil
Well it's just ****ing stupid, almost as bad as what that bloke did at mk dons, at least they didn't move you. What's the point in coming in and changing the clubs colours and badge?
Cardiff have a great side when they have their star players fit. It's a hard job in this league to have that all season. We are only just bringing back Hobbs, just think what that one player will do for us.
Marketing in Asia mate. Red is regarded as a lucky colour throughout SouthEast Asia in particular, and the potential television and retail market for the game in the South Pacific rim countries is immense. Yes, you could say they've changed to red for their own reasons and ridden roughshod over tradition - that's a reasonable point of view to be honest. But it's easy to take that stance from outside the club itself. We needed TG and Vincent Tan to take the Langston (Hamman) monkey off our back. The price we have had to pay in the colour change may have been too much for some, but the vast majority think it's been well worth it - particularly when we watch our team play and look at the table. Edit - forgot to mention the red dragon now on the club badge as well as the Bluebird. Common and patriotic symbol both in Wales and Asia.
Then why not make the red shirt the away shirt, and market it in Asia on a larger scale than the home shirt?
It's all a bit too political for me mate, but I think it had to be the official club colours with the red dragon symbol. We still use the blue strip away from home - that was the deal - unless of course it clashes with the home club's colour like against Blackburn on Friday night when we used the official red. BTW, did you see that game?............... For what it's worth guys, and I've mentioned it on another thread over here yesterday, my dream scenario would be Cardiff and Hull going up auto for the reasons I gave - lot's of great memories of my time spent working up there in the 80's, and Boothferry Park in particular.
So basically, they've changed Cardiff to play in red to make a load of ting tongs happy at the other side of the world, and that's ok is it? I'm not mad at you, I just can't understand why anyone would defend this mindless act of vandalism. It's not about lots of little squinty eyes on the other side of the world, it's **** all to do with them, it's about english football, it's traditions, and the fans. These penises think they can just walk in and do what they want regardless of history. This could be the tart of something bad, I'm sure there's plenty Americans seen this thinking "I always wanted a sports team in pink called the pink fluffy bunnies" and you know lots of them are that ****ing ******ed.
Hmmm......passionate views there Bullshit - I've got no problem with you having them either mate. Each to his own and I must say there are a vocal few in Cardiff who share your strong opinions. Thankfully, they are just a few though, and most of us can see the bigger picture. If we go up, it'll be because of them and not in spite of them. I'll take that. I must add I did enjoy you beating the wurzels in that playoff final to get to the Prem a few years back. Getting there for you was a joy for me - beating those bloody wurzels a bonus.........
Passionate is absolutely fine. Use of the racist language here is offensive though and should have nothing to do with football - remember not all City fans are white. And I for one would be more than happy to see HCFC in the prem with a sizeable contingent in Asia buying the merchandise.
They normally fade and fold around feb/march time. They will feel the heat over the next few weeks for sure. That is an object lesson in not taking advice from people who dont know what they are talking about John. I have no sympathy at all with the Venkys. But certainly a harsh lesson in not fixing something that was Not Broken. Keep you slip in a safe place. You shall be needing it in May. I WONDER what those 100 wedding guests are thinking now ? You know the ones that have missed out on a share of £64m euro millions. Never throw anything away when you are drunk ? lol. Yes i think that as well. Just something about them that makes them seasonal bottlers. TWT though i guess. They now have the blue shirts as the away shirts or when they have to change fom red.
Cardiff have a completely different squad under Malky Mackay & I don't think you can relate to previous seasons when referring to their usual decline towards the end of the season. They look very good this year and I think they will get top 2
OK Tickler - we'll see you in May pal whether we've bottled it or not by then. It'll be the last game of the season and I hope you need the points for another shot at the big time. We've bottled it trying to get there - you bottled it when you got there. Game on!
I wouldn't worry too much about Tickler's predictions, he spent all last season banging on about Southampton not being able to maintain their form all season.
We have never had any money and been under transfer embargoes winding up orders numerous times in last 5 years so to get to a FA Cup Final Play Off Final and Carling Cup Final as well as reaching the play offs for past 3 years... We are not bottlers more like over achieving with a very small squad which ran out of steam!! Wish ppl would get there facts right...now we got a squad not just a starting 11 This will be our season!
Champions for me tbh, can't see them really faulting enough, Palace on the other hand will go down the swanny, especially after January. Keeping Whittingham and adding quality will see them through this season, its a race for the 2nd auto place though, and thank god its not going to be Wolves, Blackburn or Bolton, best league in the world
