I think the key to us winning games. Especially away is getting an early goal or a lead. Burton has the quality not to waste chances so if he gets an early chance im confident hes score. We have then been very tight from then on. Sittin 9-10 men behind the ball and if nesseccary countering well again converting chances
The Rotherham forum board was full of condemnation of our game up there. Did anyone on here go to the game, and what comments have you regarding their vitriolic attack on our style of play?
WINDYROG - I went to the match - I've posted honest comments on 'Hoadie's' matchday thread regarding our performance and some thoughts regarding comments from Rotherham fans. I think that brb post of comments made against Rotherham by fans of Exeter was very telling ( kettle-pot-black etc ) I have no intention of going onto the site occupied by those Rotherham 'fans' to educate them - I'd rather hit my head on a brick wall.
Always....I did get the impression that it was a very biased 'home team' view point. The comments being made didn't seem to tally with reports elsewhere. And they have got a certain Mr Evans in charge too.
WINDYROG - I'm not sure if you are sying that I am being biased or if you're 'accusing' the Rotherham fans ? I don't mind you thinking that I am biased - but I thought that I had made it clear that 1. We were lucky to win. 2. Rotherham were unlucky not to win. - OK - they got caught by our sucker punches - but we have seen many teams shut up shop @ Priestfields - and we have not been able to break down the opponent. 3. I have admitted that Rotherham provided most of the attacking play - especially their crosses - resulting in 15 corners- is it my fault that Rotherham were unable to profit ? 4. I am not going to condone or condemn the time wasting - every team does it - especially when 2-0 up away from home in a World Cup final. 5. I don't think that the game was overly physical ( I accepted that the foul on Vincelot was dreadful - but even that didn't make it an X rated match ) 6. I still maintain ( honest opinion ) that for most of the first half the referee allowed fouls by Rotherham to go unpunished, whereas our fouls produced free kicks nearly every time. I hope that I have got hold of the wrong end of your stick !
Hi Always.....yes you have got the wrong end of the stick. I said that the posts on the Rotherham site were bound to be home based and biased. That is why I asked for a Gills supporters perspective.........as BRB had not done a match report. Simples.........
