In Italy that's a stone wall penalty and would have been given if he hadn't dived like he'd been kneecapped.
Many players are doing it all the time unfortunately, but most of them do it far more subtly than that idiot!
TBH many players from big clubs, they have higher rep with judges and they're more likely to get the penalty or foul
Needs to be a yellow card for choosing to go down and a red for going down with not contact like Baled recent one where the bloke didnt come within 3 feet of him.
Heres a perfect example of what the idiot pundits think is a pen because there was "contact". Does anyone seriously think that wasnt a dive? Good on the ref for booking him. http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/vide...-bonuccis-farcical-dive-vs-palermo-video.html
Completely agree. When pundits analyse a moment in super slow mo, you often hear them say that if you look close enough you can make out some contact and it's therefore a free kick, penalty, sending off etc. This is totally beside the point. If the contact is not enough for a player to go down then there is no disadvantage and the play should continue without any player being penalised. If the player decides to go down as he'd rather have a free kick then he is cheating. There should be an appointed FA panel who can then dish out bans for the cheaters.....unless of course it's one of our players.
It was on the BBC site that the FA wants retrospective action and they will do it after this season. I just hope "contact" doesnt mean he wont be suspended. The old head to head dive really gets me too, the player that falls backwards feigning a headbutt always gets the other guy sent off when he did nothing.
If taking drugs is cheating and you get banned what do you call that? I'd swap the punishments around, yellow card for failing a drug test and a 1 year ban for diving.
