Well he is a qualified manager so you would hope he makes the right call! Fair play to him. I must admit the like of Downing and left bag is starting to get of my nerves.
Fully deserved my naming and shaming! Bloody sofa managers..lol But as we were all so wrong...Should we be starting Cole and Henderson next gamE????
**** no! Anyway, I would quite happily be proved wrong every week if this happens. Maybe these comments were the opposite to a jinx?
Don't tar us all with this brush, some of us were behind Cole & Henderson when they came on <whsitle>
To be honest I'm not impressed. It was Rodgers who chose the names on the team sheet, who told them how to play, who arranged the tactics that got us into the mess in the first place. Despite his goal, Cole was one of the worst players out there. Constantly gave the ball away, and didn't seem to want to pass when the time was right. Downing may have looked lively but many of our attacks ended when the ball came to him. I strongly believe that had BR not gone into the match with those two on the pitch we would have done much better. As for Shelvey, he's not a striker. His energy paid off and I'm glad for that, and for him. But he shouldn't be on the pitch that high up. He was sloppy (other than his brilliant dribble). Maybe we got lucky and picked up 3 points today. But if we do this week in, week out we won't always get lucky. Better teams will start punishing us and that's a scary thought. It wasn't through any tactical masterstroke that Cole scored or that Shelvey bundled it in (an own goal I think it was as well). In fact, when we were being terrorised up until the 73rd minute Rodgers was just sitting there doing nothing about it. To sum it up, Rodgers got us into this mess today, he also got us out. But without some luck it could have been a totally different story. I'd rather not take the risk of playing Downing and Cole ever again though. It might seem that i'm super pessimistic but I'm tired of getting my hopes up after a lucky win, only to be disappointed again and again. Caution is needed before giving anyone praise for today's performance.
What happenned today is down to irony, which seems to be playing a large part in our season... Downing, **** against Gomel scored the winner Downing, **** against Anzhi scored the winner Joe Cole slated for starting against Young boys, scored one and assisted another. And then today! What this proves is that we did not win these matches because of Brendans decisions or the players skiil.....It was down to us moaning like itchy whores about these players that made it obvious that they would pop up and score and make us all lokk like ungrateful oaning arm chair managers. So if we ever need a result all we have to do is pick on the player who is having a bad day. Insult him, call him ****, insist he has to leave in the next window and up he will pop and score.
Next week... what happened to Suarez over his suspension? Why is he playing so ****!!!!??? Grrrrrrrrr
....then we'll buy him in Jan Zingy if you check the match thread I said at half time that it was a terrible substitution (which it was)....I'm offended I'm not on the "moaning bastards" list Well done anyway BR well happy with that 3 points and against 12 men too
Yes I did rate him, but he was infuriating at the same time. I have mixed feelings about him. On one hand he was pretty solid at making us not lose, but too stubborn to make us consistently win.
Henderson had a good game midweek he more or less deserved his chance and his substitution made perfect sense. I am not a fan of Joe Cole and I think Buck got lucky with Joe today. Normally we play well and get screwed, today we played badly but succeeded. It is about time we had some luck!
I agree with Danilo to some extent. Joe Cole was terrible - the movement and the finish for the goal was special though, so credit is due. I thought Shelvey was terrible as well - his passing and movement was poor but he completely transformed once he got the goal. His touch, passing and movement was immense after that. Gerrard was garbage as usual. We played well in patches but we really ground out a result and showed fantastic spirit! We have fought back from losing positions this season and its encouraging to see that it's never over until the final whistle blows now. Would have preferred to have seen Suso play - we lacked composure, class and confidence in the final 3rd.
In fairness we were playing well with Enrique on. That was a blow because he's been excellent this last month. BRs substitution was a poor one because Downing is no left back. However he has to be given a credit for swapping Hendo for Lucas, a brave decision we'd all have criticised if West Ham had won. Yes Diame going off helped us but not as much as the referee was helping Fat Sams lot. Was BR's team really so lucky to have such a harsh pen given against them and an even more blatant pen denied? Were they lucky to have to play out 6 and a half minutes of injury time when 5 went up on the board? An unconvincing win it may have been but a lucky one? Not for me it wasn't.
Nothing but luck won it for us today. Joe Cole was absolutely awful and somehow scored. Brendan made mistakes and got lucky. Henderson should have started instead of Allen though.
