Simmo set for a move to London?

I can see him moving in January for sure, especially given his relationship with Tulisa.

There are reports in today’s Sunday papers that Danny Simpson would like to move to London to play his football, so he can be closer to his new girlfriend – X Factor judge Tulisa.

If we are honest we have no idea what Danny wants to do, because whenever he’s interviewed by the Newcastle press he always says he wants to stay on Tyneside, but his actions don’t suggest that, and he’s refused to sign a new contract at Newcastle for 18 months now.

And we could see Danny boy leave in January, if a club comes in with an offer of around £2M, which Newcastle would probably take rather than losing him for nothing in the summer.

Danny’s private life seems to be in a bit of a mess at the moment, with his former girlfriend Stephanie Ward, 25, who had a baby girl Skye by Danny 18 months ago, has said she is again pregnant with his baby.

It seems that three London clubs – Fulham, QPR and Reading – may be interested in the former Manchester United defender, so if one of those three come in with a £2M bid in January we could see Simpson leave for London.

Danny has so far played 126 times for Newcastle with two goals, and to be fair to the lad, he’s never let his off field activities affect his form on the pitch for the Magpies.

And Martin Jol will get a chance of seeing how good Danny is tomorrow night at Craven Cottage when we go down to play Fulham, and hopefully can come away with all 3 points.

 

I like Simpson but he seems certain to move on. Obviously better for us if that is January but I could see him holding out for the summer and the possibility of a bumper Bosman move. He is replaceable of course but the timing will be be key in both his departure and other clubs releasing any replacement.

 

I like him, and would love to keep him, but he's obviously not quite happy here.

He will leave with my respect.

I really hope we get a replacement in though.

Didn't know that Reading was in London.

 

Solid player, but easily replaceable and a more attacking full back would improve us tenfold.

Nowt lol. Read it though, it's decent. He always goes on about Bosman deals that's all.

No. There's a few candidates, maybe Danny Murphy I reckon. Someone still playing or has very recently played in the premier.

Gives you a good insight into the game though and has a decent chapter on agents and transfers. They hardly ever mention names though in case they get sussed

I don't like Simmo, but I'd like to see the club bring someone better than him in before he leaves.




Also, I really think this is just bullshite stirred up by the papers. They thought his girlfriend is in London, and he has a contract issue, so 1 + 1 = 3 and they make a story out of it.

 

I would like to see him gone, BUT only after we've signed a better replacement. Also thought he said last week he wanted to stay and get his contract situation sorted out.

 

He wants more money than we've offered, which is a sign I me that he probably thinks he is a better player than he actually is. Like people has said, he is replaceable. If we sign a full back in jan I would sell him right away.

 

I'd think that might leave us needing two. As I say I think he'll be here till the end of the season. Obviously fee would be nice but we wouldn't get more than 2m anyway so not losing much. Only cost a 1m or so. With Raylor out, Tav not looking ready and Perch better in midfield we'll need probably two left backs. We could sign a centre half and left back in January and then go back for Pieters who plays left back and centre half when he leaves. All bases covered.

 

The only certainty out of everything is that if he does stay until the end of the season then we won't sign any fullbacks. It's just how we operate. Just have to hope he is not sold before he is replaced.

 

I've been told that Simpson wants to be a celebrity footballer like Rio, hence the Tulisa thing. Probably thinks he'll be able to get more 'famous' in London.
