I don't think he will be a Henry, or a Chamakh, I don't honestly think he will ever become an elite striker in the Henry-RVP category, but I don't think he will ever go as bad as Chamakh. I think he will always be a good striker for Arsenal, a 10-15 goal per season striker, for me personally, we still need another striker.
Wilshere was probably our best player imo. But our stand out performer was the ref. For years I felt we regularly get the wrong end of bad decisions, but today we certainly benefited from a couple of questionable decisions for both penalties. Cazorla may have had his foot trodden on in which case it would be the correct decision, look for that on MOTD and Ox may have fouled someone just before winning the second. We had some good quick passing at times as well compared to the pedestrian stuff we've seen recently and defensively were barely troubled against a team that have been doing well, but even so if we hadnt got the two dodgy penalties Im not sure we would have scored. We desperately need a top striker in January.
As posted above, I think more like 20 goals a season, but apart from that I agree. The point is though, his return at this stage has been OK in a team struggling.
I don't care if Giroud scores as long as we win and he puts in good performances. Today was one of his worst, but we won thanks to our awesome midfield-3. In recent games our defense has been put under too much pressure. They would concede goals even though they were playing well. Today, our pressing game stopped that happening. Wilshere 10/10. Arteta and Cazorla 8/10. Defense + Oxo 7/10. Giroud and Gerv 6/10.
Just saw the game. Why is everyone going on about a dive, you can clearly see the Brom Player's foot bounce off Cazorla's shin on the replay.
I didn't see that at all. Looked like a dive to me. Maybe we can use the same excuse that the spuds use when Bale dives. 'He was anticipating a tackle, so he was just moving his leg out of the way'
Who do we want to win in today's games ? For me: City - just to see Fergie go a shade of Beetroot Everton - Because although they would go above us, the spuds would lose West Ham - simply to heap more misery on the Scousers
What ... sounds sensible to me...we dive to avoid injury but you lot of cheating bastards dive to get penalties
He was clearly diving to avoid an injury. Had the west brom defender made contact, he would have taken his foot clean off
So...what a pussy...he's well paid...give me that amount per week and I'd happily let them kick my foot clean off...and then I'll come back for more...like that Knight in the Monty Python film that keeps having his limbs cut off
I'd take a draw in the Everton v Spuds game, it would be the best result in terms of our league position. But I can't pass up the opportunity to hope to see the spuds lose
Yesterday's penalty shows how hard it is for refs to make decisions. From where i was sitting it looked 100% that Cazorla had been fouled and the people around couldn't understand what the WBA players were complaining about. On the train on the way home one of the lads had a text saying the penalty was slightly dodgy. After watching MOTD last night i have to say we were lucky to get the decision. All in all though i thought the the performance was 100% improvement on some of our performances of late.We seemed quicker to the ball, our passing was crisper,we closed down quicker.Hopefully we can continue to improve over the next few very winnable games and start climbing up the table.
The first penalty wasn't the ref's fault, the second was due to his incompetence (should've called a foul in the build to the penalty). It was cheating plain and simple and I had to see it. If Man Utd had two penalties in the same circumstances as we did, we all know there would be an up roar. My point being is that I hate seeing any kind of cheating in the game and retrospective bans need to take place. It's getting ridiculous how players keep getting away with blatant diving because they know there aren't any serious repercussions.
I have to disagree. Cazorla fell AFTER the alleged "touch". It is clear on one of repeats. Even if he was touched, his foot did not move, he was still standing on both feet for a moment. And THEN he fell. Let's face it - it was a dive. Having said that I think players like Cazorla, who are always on the ball and being constantly kicked, have to protect themselves. They simply have so send this message - "If you touch me, I will make a meal of it". At least that deters thugs to a certain degree. If it also brings us a penalty, well, that's even better
