    Link deleted!

So apparently, because Bassong celebrated his goal he doesn't deserve any sympathy for being racially abused! <doh>

Trying to think of a sensible response to reply with on that thread, but it's so full of crap it's hard to think of anything. I doubt they'll see reason from anyone talking sense though.

Good grief. I'm finding it very hard to understand a couple of the comments on there. Probably best for us all to just leave it.

Don't know where one muppet thinks Bassong earns £50K a week - not even Holt is on that much. I often see similar events when the away team scores at CR in front of the Barclay - haven't heard of any of our fans being racist!!

Disappointing reaction from one or two that I would have thought better of! Maybe a knee-jerk reaction due to the disappointment of losing! <ok>

Well I couldn't help myself, I had to comment on there.

Comparing being called a sheep shagger to being abused due to the colour of your skin, is stretching it way too far!

I must admit I have now found some of the comments on that thread to be totally ridiculous and just had to respond to one of the "incitement" accusations.

I've got to say that the authorities handled it superbly. But, one of the silliest comments is claiming that the sheep shagging stuff isn't racism. It quite blatantly is.

What about the old Suffolk gems that occasionally get trotted out about budgies having 6 fingers, being inbreds, etc, they could be taken as racist - or regional stereotypes if we're being generous and just shrugging them off?

The difference is people know it isn't true! When you abuse somebody because of the colour of their skin, that isn't banter or funny!

I would say calling someone a "sheep shagger" or a "six-fingered sister-****er" is offensive but much less severe than full blown racist behaviour aimed at someone because they happen to have a different skin colour! Even someone as "innocuous" as wellyblue has been known to sling the odd "inbred" accusation which we take in good part because it is never "done to death" but just mentioned in passing!

i jumped in an added a few words. I worry that too few people fully grasp why racism is such a scary thing, and what it has empowered into being in the not so distant past.

Hello to all round here again btw, been off here for quite a while!
