What an awful return to the premiership we have had. When you think we went up as champions, and you look at how Swansea and Norwich did last season and look at them this year, its really annoying. They both bought players, what did they do right and we did so wrong, (don't say employ Mark Hughes please)?
They kept the vast majority of their squads together instead of trying to buy success. We bought too many players with nothing left to prove. Players that jumped at the silly money we threw at them.
well said Nuts and swords I was always right about our championship side having the team spirit to build on ... you can't buy it... now i have to read the vultures pop at anyone and everyone. I will add that NW didn't do us any favours by thinking we didn't have the players ... have good look at the Swansea and Norwich squads Swords ... here endth the lesson. We on paper look good however it seems so far we are also made of it ... still we unbeaten in three and both the swans and norwich could still go down ... lose three in a row in teh middle league you are in trouble ... we catch up over the next ten games then we are in the mix
Perhaps this is true, but don't forget the threads rating all our championship players - if I remember rightly, the overwhelming opinion was that wholesale changes were required for us to stand a chance.
I think that when we got promoted we had an old squad in general. Both Norwich and Swansea had younger squads so that helped. On top of that we brought in old past their best players whereas they brought in younger players. Its a lesson learnt and whether we go down or stay up we should be looking for young hungry players in the future.
Definitely our transfer policy. That f***wit called Mark Hughes conned TF into trying to buy success and he obliged. We don't have a squad capable of staying in the premiership.
We (NCFC) didn't buy a lot of players when we got promoted, we generally kept the side that got us up (even from League one) and I think that's what helped us and with Swansea, we had young hungry players with a good team spirit with understanding and momentum. Going into this season NCFC and Swansea cleverly bought in players that will strengthen our sides, keeping our team spirit and togetherness. Where it went wrong with QPR imo is trying to do to much too soon. You should have kept the team that got you promoted, but just add 3 or 4 quality players and in time gradually build on that. The players you've bought in I feel are too old and have had their best years and QPR just look like a team of individuals. I have a feeling QPR will be ok though, 2 or 3 wins and the bottom will look different, Harry is a good manager and will sort out your mess out.
Not being negative about them, just listing the oldies. Of them, I have no problem with either keeper, although I was hoping we'd manage to find an early 20's 6'4" area commander and superb shot stopper. Agree about Nelson - 100%er, true pro. Zamora has been hugely dissapointing, and I only saw Johnson against Chelsea, and he worked his nuts off.
SWP, Barton, Park Out of all those, Im only happy with 2, Cesar and Nelsen. 10 old players, only 2 have performed at an acceptable level.
The fans deserve the Premier League title, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA World Club Cup and Community Shield all in one season lol, sadly only in FM2013.
