I'd like to see Ennis get it.

I also think Mo will win the award

The best year ever for GB sport and yet no footballers, cricketers or rugby players are in the final selection - just shows what a talented and varied selection of sports people we have in this country at present.

I think Mo Farrah will win it but I'd like to see Andy Murray get it, his stubborness in refusing to lie down should be a lesson to everyone. If at first you don't succeed, try and try again.

After beating the All Blacks I'm a bit surprised there's no rugger players been nominated yet.

I reckon we'd have seen a cricketer but for all the in fighting, KP saga and hapless surrender of the No1 spot to South Africa. If Chef carries on his current form he'll walk it next year

I'm more surprised Captain Cook hasn't been nominated.

Wiggins has it in the bag, it will be worth watching this year as so many people worth a mention
As its been a sporting year to be remembered.
I remember when sir bobby was awarded for the lifetime achievement award, proud moment.
I take the person who questioned what a pampered footballer was must have been joking or very daft ????

    1. Wiggo TDF, Critérium Dauphiné and Olympic gold
    2. Farrah 2 Olympic gold medals
    3. Murray Olympic gold and silver, US Open winner and Wimbledon finalist
    4. David Weir 4 Paralympic gold medals is phenomenal
    5. Ennis one Olympic gold

Wiggo and Murray up there because they performed throughout the year, Farrah and Ennis just at the Olympics this year.
There's also a lot more competition for Murray and Wiggo and their branch of sport in my opinion, therefore they rank higher in my list.

MON was mentioned but his predecessor Agent Bruce (oops) Steve Bruce pushed him down the list somewhat.

Still, Nicola Adams for me, what a fantastic role model for women and girls in sport she is, and to achieve what she has in the male dominated world of boxing is nothing short of miraculous.
When you think that women's football was long ridiculed as was women's cricket and women playing rugby, for many was the last straw. A young woman achieving such a pinnacle in boxing, against the prejudice and with no backing or sponsorship is without doubt an achievement worthy of this accolade.

One thing I enjoyed about the Olympics was the mini 'Profiles' we were given about our various sportsmen and women, how they became involved in their various sports, and the sacrifices many of them have had to make.
Nice to see that some of the Olympians that compete in sports that don't have such a high profile have been lucky enough to receive sponsorships, Jade Jones for example struggled financially for many years, she received help from her local community, they even had a collection box in the local pub

2012 for me will never be surpassed in terms of sport. Even if we won the world cup one year I'd still say 2012 was the greatest.
