All your points are perfectly reasonable, but again you're missing the point. It's not Watford specifically that I see as an issue, it's the fact that you've highlighted that a club could, in theory, loan an entire team from a top club in a foreign league and that is unfair. With regard to Watford specifically, if your owners are willing to spend the money to sign these players pemanently in January, then no-one will be able to question what's going on, they'll all be your players and your owners can buy anyone they want. But using one club to subsidise another, to gain access to the richest league in the world, would be rather more questionable. There is no anti Watford feeling on this board, merely a concern about what the current Watford model might lead to in the future. None of which should detract from what should be a very good game tomorrow, when politics are forgotten and football takes over.
I think this response smacks of a jealous moan rather than a reasoned argument. I doubt that SB had to 'beat off too much competition' before his old mate SAF loaned him 2 players. Our owners have steadily built up one of the best scouting systems in Europe and an enviable 'bank' of emerging talent. They then use those players where required and sell them to support their clubs, thus voiding debt. Every other owner has the right to do the same, including your owner. Lets hope that his ownership isn't only based on property deals, planning permissions, political party donations, etc and that he actually wants to achieve sustainable success for he Tigers, on the field. Watford have had their share of dubious owners in the past and it isn't pleasant.
I appreciate that you're not being anti Watford and I wasn't taking it that way. I can't see Watfords model being adopted often, too soon, if at all. It depends on Owners like the Pozzo's who have taken years to build up their scouting network and bank of players. There can't be too many owners like that about. Anyway, I hope for a great game and that Deeney scores the winner!
I used to play for a football team( under 11's and 12's I think it was)that played in the full Watford strip. Badge and all. I'd be interested to know if anyone could name them and yes it was in Hull.
jealousy? (OK to be fair i tihnk it is bending the rules a bit, oh well viva Watford FC) Honestly, If the shoe was on the other foot, I wouldn't be too happy either. Some very vaild points made in thsi thread and the system needs reviewing. It is 'our' (as in all of our) lower leagues and it is fair play, be it financially or with owners, that needs to be insured. Let's hope this is sorted out after our promotion, if possible.
Who cares anyway who watford have on loan ? i dont for starters. Its not like they have a team of Messi's and Ronaldo's FFS. It should be a good open game and IF Watford want to come at us then fine as that suits Hull City down to the ground. The more open the game the better imo. End to end slug fest. 1 - 2 Hull City win. Just having my breakfast as Mrs T. does the pack up. Want to get to the hotel early, check in, park up and have some beers. Game on.............
Tough game, got a lot of admiration for Gian Franco, seems a top fella and he`s got his team playing football the right way. Having said that Steve Bruce has also got our team playing proper footie with a cutting edge, I reckon this game cud be one for the purists, with Aluko back I fancy us to get at least a draw out of it, but none the less it`ll be a great game I suspect. Now having said all that standby for a 0-0 bore draw !!!!
Watford undefeated in 7 games and winning last 2 at home. Hull winning 7 in the last 11 games and winning the last 2 away games on the bounce. This is a great opportunity to state our intentions for the season but it will not be easy! We;ll create the chances as usual but need to convert them today more than ever. The defence will be tested thoroughly as well. Tell me Hobbs is back for this?
Aluko confirms he isn't playing.... Sone Aluko ‏@sonealuko Another weekend not playing. Most frustrating part of being a footballer this missing games malarky! My body is annoying me! Back soon tho!
that's a nice balanced argument.. interesting the last game they beat us was in 2007 at Vic Road and the scorer was.... Marlon King. a draw would be very handy..
this summer I got chatting to a Hornets fan in the pool in Morocco and his take on the season was "We've brought in lots of unknown Italian and Spanish players & I haven't a clue how it will work out".. he didn't know what to make of the club's strategy but was happy they weren't in administration cos they were in dire straits before.. basically they're an unknown quantity which Zola has started to form into a unit. Scoring 6 at Leeds means they know where the net is..
