Thanks for not taking offence. Could I imagine a President Gordon Brown? Hmm, I raise you a Prime Minister George Bush!!!
Not sure what the percentages are on this but I am anti-monarchy myself. Wouldn't argue about things like that on a football forum though to be fair. Each to their own.
Are there people who are really pro-monarchy? Or is it more that there are people who see a benefit to them and figure it is alright to keep them around?
People have very strong opinions pro and anti. I try and see both sides of the argument but really have been on the anti-side for a very long time now. It's one of those kind of things like religion where you have to respect peoples beliefs even if you don't agree with them.
Yea that I knew, and the anti King history of the town. I am not from Hull but one of my good friends is, hence the strange american who supports a team he has never seen play.
Yeah that King was a bellend though so he had it coming. Doubt you'll see a monarch like him again- not in the West anyway. We went from that to a Republic and he was an even bigger tosser hence why we have a monarchy again. Anyway, we're getting off the actual subject of the nurse.
It has even made the news here now as well. Also that they wont be doing their show for the foreseeable future. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/...nurse-found-dead-prank-callers_n_2257231.html
I am totally pro monarchy, I swore my allegiance to the Queen and mean it. The Queen is more than just a head of state, she is the one person who is above the politics, above the corruption, no one can bribe her or influence her by financial support. She is bound by the position she holds to represent the people of the country. This is what the people of Hull changed in their brave actions. If the Queen rang me and told me to do anything, I would! No debate, no questions, it would be done. If the Prime minister rang me, I would ask if the Queen agreed.
Option B. It works and the last thing we need is another elected official that barely anyone voted for. We have a head of state who's admired around the world, barely any other nation else does, I don't think many realise how lucky we are(or how **** the alternatives are).
The point about the debate switching from the sad actions of the nurse, is this, I would find it very very hard to ask the Queen to prove hat she was actually ringing, even if it was a spoof.
In all the movies I have ever seen when someone like the president calls an average person they hang up on them and then the white house calls them back and says something like "I am going to put the president on now" and then the person takes it for granted it is the president. It could just be 2 people messing with you. Hard to know what she was supposed to do to find out for sure it was the Queen.
