Premier league. Champions league. Europa League. Fa cup. COC. European super cup. World club. Johnstone paints trophy. Community shield.
in fact i'd rate the scottish league div 3 above the community shield. infact now that i think of it there's an u10s league that i'd rate higher as well.
This. And you're playing the winners of the same, unlike world club, where you play some Mexican team who are drug cartels on the side.
Hey no! The Mexican teams are normally decent enough to hold their own ( another reason why I don't understand why MLS doesn't take CONCACAF CL seriously??). But agree with the other teams who normally get brushed aside.
Also playing the winners of the Copa Libertadores, who would **** all over the FA Cup winners 90% of the time. I think the Community Shield would have more value if it were like the WCC or ESC and was played in the middle of the season. And if it was actually seen as the English 'Super Cup'. At the moment it's more of a glorified corporate jolly, final pre season friendly and chance to show off some new signings. If you compare it to the Supercopa Espana it's a great example of how a potentially decent competition can be turned into a largely pointless game by FA politics and corporate pandering.
Absolutely, you've got to have lifted the European cup to have a pop at it, so therefore for someone to put it lower than the ****ing Charity Shield is utterly ridiculous & wreaks of bitterness.
Oh please Tobes seriously trying to score points in a "debate" between these two/three 'trophies' (and I use the term in its literal physical sense only) is ludicrous. The Charity Shield, World CC & Supercup are for advertisers only & totally meaningless other than that. Day out at most. I mean if Barcelona win the CL & we win the EL & play in the Supercup. Barca win? No applause that the top tier 1 European team beat the top tier 2 European team. If we win? Do we get to go around ignoring the entire CL campaign & declare ourselves the best in Europe? Of course not. So meaningless trophy. Theoretically (however unlikely) a non league team could win the FA cup & win on penalties in the charity shield: now best in England? Of course not. Chelsea win the CL, go play a couple of games mid season against that years other cup winners? Champions of the world? Hell no one outside of Stamford bridge thought they are best in Europe despite the CL win. So again a nonsense money making event designed to sell TV rights in other countries.
You might as well say that about the Charity Shield because you have to win league or cup to be in it. Imo, the route to them has little bearing on their quality as stand-alone competitions. As with anything, you take more interest in it if you're in it, but otherwise, I just see them as money making stocking fillers.
Oh behave, what's 'ludicrous' is a red trying to make out that the World club Championship is the lowest of the low in terms of winable pots i.e. the OP. Even scoring it below the Charity Shield in an obvious pop at Chelsea (he even mentions the 'chavs' in his OP) so take your pinkie specs off before you start throwing ****e in my direction (again) petal.
Also refer to them as Chelsea. Still, don't think you get a say really, considering who you support. I was more interested in how people judge the main competitions anyway.
Yeah of course you were mate; . & then saying that the World Club Championship was easier to win than the Johnstone Paints trophy.................you were really looking for serious debate, lol.
1. Premier League - to be consistent over 38 games is harder than winning the champions league. Look at Chelsea for example, they finished 6th last year but won the CL. 2. Champions league - self explanatory really, the hardest cup competition there is given the quality of the teams and obviously it has a prestigious history. 3. FA Cup - Call me a sucker, but I love the FA Cup, it's a shame it been devalued. It is a worthy honour for anyone to win. 4. Europa League - The whole champions league dropout system doesn't help it as its already in the shadow of the CL. The different guise of it from the Uefa Cup has devalued it too. 5. Capital One Cup - Pretty ****e cup. the constant renaming of it doesn't help and the way some teams treat it makes it worse. still above the others though because you have to win 5 or 6 games to win if rather than 1/2. 6. World Club Cup - This is only just better than the two below for me as it is a proper competition in the middle of the season rather than a one game friendly leading up to the season. 7. Super Cup - European Champions head to head on a bigger stage but its just as pointless as the community shield. 8. Community Shield - Just Pointless.
I agree with you to an extent on Premier league. Definitely agree about COC cup and so on, renaming it really does take something away from it.
How is it easier exactly? Please explain the detailed logic of how you've come to that conclusion love. I'm genuinely interested.........................
I think a lot will come down to whether you are ranking the competitions based on the ones you want to win, or the ones that are a challenge to win. I think most people would agree the WCC is easier to win than the COC (once you've qualified of course), but I doubt many people would choose to win the COC over the WCC, given that the WCC winner will be champions of Europe whilst barring 2009 the winner of the COC in recent years has largely been making up for their season in general being a bit of a disappointment.
