Do you think that our club's youngsters will have a place at the club if we continue our progress.

I understand we have good prospects in the U18's like James Ward-Prowse, luke shaw and jake sinclair. I was also surprised to see Lloyd Foot released as from what i heard he was becoming a important player for the academy side and i would of put my money on him getting a contract

further up the age scale we have people like Mcnish and doble who are pushing for a place in the first team squad, but going back if we carry on up the league i fear that they may get pushed out. For me it was a mistake, not entering the Reserve league as the development squad hardly play any games and surely training alone wont be enough to enhance their development.

My last point is do you think oscar gobern will have a part to play in our squad next season? For me, he is not ready for our team in the champ, maybe not even in league 1 but i still think he is a decent player and i would loan him out to a top half league one team where he is guaranteed games.

Morning MSSGM........Goberne is already part of the first team squad. NA rates him very highly. As for some of the other youngsters. Normally out of a batch of about 18 players you will get maybe one or two that will be able to step up to league football. Blooding players is one of the hardest things to do. Rarely can you blood more than a couple or three during any one season. If and when their opportunity comes, if they do not take off, more or less straight away. It is rare they are given a second opportunity. I honestly cannot see many changes over the coming close season and certainly not too many additions coming into the squad. Now we have a more settled squad I think opportunities will come up for the youngsters to shine. I have to say though that in all honesty we will not get the best out of our academy until at least another couple of years. Look to our under 16's squad that is where your next stars are coming from in my opinion. The lads coming through at the moment are likely to struggle more than most at the moment because of what has happened over the last couple of years and our need to build a team quickly. Only time will tell if for them we have the time to develop them into what we need, in the side!

Where has it been said Lloyd Foot has been released? Can't find it on the OS

I think Ward-Prowse will be involved with the 1st team next season, possibly in the way Chamberlain has if what I heard about Ward-Prwose is true

With an academy system, its inevitable that a lot of players won't make it with the volume of players coming through. Its why they do academic and vocational studies while they are with us so they can live normal lives afterwards if they don't become professional footballers. A few will get taken on by lower league clubs but only a very small fraction will actually play in our first team.

Youth football and Championship football are a whole different ball game. The latter is much faster, much more physical and played by fully grown men who have succeeded in the development process already. It takes a pretty special talent to break straight through.

A while ago, I heard reports of Gobern being a bit of a loose cannon, but maybe a couple of years and the influence of NA have improved that. He is starting to look like a decent player with a lot of enthusiasm, so maybe there is a future for him.

There will be a few good ones to look forward to though. We have to nurture our best talent. Lallana wouldn't be the monster he is now if we hadn't persisted with his obvious flair while he was a lightweight teenager.
