...the ability to win the ball.

Fair enough we play more possession football than previously, however the ball does get played long, either a hoof, clearance and even a chip through. However, no one ever wins the ball and retains it for us. Suarez for all his brilliance, never wins anything. Yes, of course Carroll was foolishly moved on, but I don't mean a player to hold it up, just some strength or desire at least. With us playing mainly Suso and Sterling on the wings too, no long diagonal balls will ever stick.

Just something that really frustrates me. Anyone else notice this?

  2. Suarez isn't the perfect player but one thing he doesn't lack is desire!

I mean desire to win the ball in the air. He is brilliant at chasing the ball down, but if we play out without being on the floor, it just keeps coming back at us.
We used to constantly use Kuyt out wide right, hit him with a ball and work from there.

  4. I think he has the desire to win the ball in the air too, he just can't! We need to stop hitting it long rather than introduce a player to make it work <ok>

Also his movement off the ball created space for others to run in2.Dirk was very underated

If still at Anfield he would be a 1st 11 regular this season

We miss Kuyt of a few years back but we were write to sell him on at the time we did.

I've always been a fan of his though. True Red!

Yeah, I agree we sold him at the right time, but we have never replaced his qualities.

agree... the guy was past it, couldn't run any more.

I thought you meant our team was too pretty and we needed some more sterkly type ugliness to balance it out. For me i think not seeing his mush is a good thing.

Was amazed that you let Kuyt go. He was a smashing player for you.

  13. We didn't really let him go. He wanted a new challenge and the conditions of his contract meant we had no say.

Why would Liverpool sign a player so its easier to play long ball?
