Yes, I know it's a football forum, but I love my cricket with an almost equal passion.

Cook - as of today, holds the record for the highest number of 100s in test matches (23) by an Englishman, plus he also today achieved the milestone of 7,000 test match runs, the youngest player to achieve this feat, and eclipsing the maestro Sachin Tendulkar in the process <ok>

    5 tests as captain, 5 scores of 100+ !!

To see English cricket and NCFC in such good hands these days is like having several Christmases all at once <yikes>

    Well played, Cooky <ok>

I would like to echo those fine sentiments Cromer <ok> Apart from the NCFC bit obviously!

I am a keen supporter of Essex CCC and Cookey has always been something special. The best opener in my opinion since Goochy who has always been my hero!

Amongst all the records he has set, he managed to find time to circumnavigate Australia and New Zealand. Botham couldn't do that!

Alastair Cook could easily end up with forty test centuries at the end of his career, when you consider Graham Gooch was not far short of forty years of age, when he completed a triple century against India. Like the way Cook is adding six hits to his batting talents now.

I don't think there are any England 'legends' worthy of comparison with Cook. Today he hit a six that Lara would be proud of; took a record off Tendulkar and was compared to Jacques Kallis.
