Hmmmm, why are liverpool letting him go on a free?? Lets not be to sentanental here, yes he had a good spell with us, but we are looking to improve on the squad and seems a step back to me. I would like us to bring in a real top quality striker in the Jan window and really challenge Holt for a starting place, not someone whos going to eat up our wage bill sitting on the bench. Sorry to disagree peeps !!!
Why do Liverpool let anyone go? They have let some crackers go in recent years who have gone on to do a very decent job for others - Crouch, Bellamy for starters.
Not convinced. Why has he not made the breakthrough at Liverpool? He's been there under at least 3 managers and none of them have fancied him. It's one of the worst Liverpool teams for decades, and yet he still can't make an impression.
Liverpool must have "big players" at their club to keep their supporters, myopic due to the layers of past glories they're trying to peer through, happy and contended and not howling for their "small-club" manager's head.
As much as i like the bloke and how much he likes us, its a no from me unfortunatly! Any monies we have in the transfer kitty now need to be put towards strengthening the first team. Hughton will be backed in January with the funds he needs to do this! As for people comparing him to the hoolahan role, that is why Butterfield was bought in for As for players out, i expect Martin and Lappin to be withdrawn from the squad and either loaned out till the end of the season or sold on. I have an inklin that Morison will be on his way to add some decent funds to the transfer pot.
I think Snodgrass' signing was down to our chief scout - whose name escapes me at the moment - and not entirely down to either Hughton or Lambert. As for Pacheco, I think its worth a gamble as it would be free and his wages wouldn't be more than 10k a week.
Don't think Butterfield plays as advanced as pacheco. Am I right in thinking he was nicknamed the assassin at some point?
Liverpool in recent seasons have not only let Ince go but also that chap at Fulham Kakanilic (sp?) who is doing very well..and wait for it...in exchange for Konchesky. Don't let the fact Liverpool are willing to ship him out for free cloud your judgement chaps.
Quite right. Ayala was flavour of the month on here for a while. People were forseeing a partnership between him and Bennett. And he was let go by Liverpool who aren't blessed with Centre Backs.
Yes but they have Rodgers there now, not the chimp that is Dalglish. Particularly when baring in mind the type of football Rodgers is trying to instill and Lambert not wanting him there may well be something amiss with him. Much as it goes against everything I believe in as he is Spanish I think we should leave him alone.
Pacheco on a free would be interesting but agree with the comments that Butterfield could provide the Wes cover. Have to say I'd still be in for Lansbury ahead of Pacheco. Remember some great attacking passes from both.
I liked the look of Lansbury when he was here but if my memory is correct he was not a regular starter by the end of his loan spell. We didn't want him, West Ham didn't want him and he was then sold quite cheaply to Forest where, if you look at the stats, he has only started 3 games and come on as sub 5 times. I know all Clubs and Managers make mistakes but there must be solid reasons why Wenger let Lansbury go and why Liverpool are prepared to let Pacheco go for nothing. We only saw them in the Championship and the Premiership is a huge step up - time perhaps to forget about the past and look for new talent.
I think Pacheco is a "confidence" player. When he was with us, it coincided with some of the best form I've ever seen the Canaries in, as we destroyed Ipsh*t and Scun thorpe. He was the victim of his own success as he was blinding against Scunnie, went off to a standing ovation at about 65 mins, to be replaced by Jackson who then scored a hat-trick and Pacheco couldn't get back in to the starting line-up for the rest of his spell with us. I recall Pacheco as a player who passed beautifully, and could spot a delightful ball between defenders, as well as being competent in front of goal. I feel he has fallen behind Suso and Sterling in the Liverpool pecking order (while he also may have peed Rodgers off at some point (I seem to recall something in pre-season in that Liverpool documentary)). I also think Rodgers may think he is too similar to Suarez to consider playing them together. As a result, whenever I've seen him make an appearance he has struggled to get in the game (possibly due to confidence or due to Liverpools system). I'd definitely take a chance on him if it was me, as creatively he could add something for us.
