I think the biggest problem our defenders had that their attackers were trying to rough up our defence by throwing their bodies around and Celtic players were afraid of getting in too tight as they would have bought a foul and maybe even a card. This was particularly true on the build up to their goal. As two or three stood off afraid to tackle. I liked the decoy runs by Izzy and Lustig who gave midfielders options on the ball. We created the chances in the second half and deserved our win. It was nice and long over due for Celtic to finally get a decision at home to make up for all the "hard" decisions we had to put up with away. I was worried when the fourth official held up five minutes. The experience of big Sammi and Charlie swung into action and were magnificent at the end. Their professionalism was brilliant, so good to watch your own team doing it, so frustrating for opponents.
Super , I said that walking out the ground last night , yes the penalty was soft , but over the years I can think of 7 softer awards against us in the champions league some of them in dying minutes of crucial games .
Tremendous result. Sammy was immense as we're Commons, Hooper, who back tracked and covered well when Commons went off. brown made some crucial interceptions and tackles. We do miss Vic in games like this. Kayal was too easily brushed aside by Emineke. Doubt he would have out muscled Vic.
Harry after every home European game that we didn't win I can always remember talking about how we never got the "home" decision, thank God we finally have and hopefully it is like buses.
Hi sweetie. That last 10 minutes or so after we scored was nerve-wracking. Thought Mulgrew did brilliantly wasting time down by the corner flag. He must have wasted about a minute arguing with the ref to get the Spartak player to move back 10 yards I thought with the current state of Scottish football and the cut in transfer fees and wages we might not see a Scottish team in the last 16 of the CL for a good few years so for this current crop of players and management to do so is an amazing achievement.
Did you see Lenny trying to convince the 4th official that they had only used 2 subs when Krissy got injured?
That was magic, and, just to add to the whole superness of the whole thing...Clan RL is currently on the homeward leg of its highland tour...so I watched the game last night at Josie Jumps house in Balamory please log in to view this image
.............josies house is in tobermory.... got the boat back to oban today, dreich is the word I think. earlier in the week when we were in stirlingshire I thought the frost was going to crack my teeth, nearly crying it was so cold <gonesoft>
Did you go to Iona? Beautiful and tranquil but maybe not so much in this weather. When I went it was warm and sunny, stunning clear blue water and georgeous beaches.
I understand that the first Celtic Crosses came from Iona. Iona was given to St Columcille/Columba where he evangelised to the Picts. St Columba is the patron Saint of Derry. I live in Derry. There....that is one cool story.
Been to Iona before, but couldnt fit it in this time.....its ****ed , Im like a tourist in my own country !
