He'd be less of a gamble (fitness), and he'd almost certainly be cheaper. It would be up to the manager to determine whether he wanted him. But at all times the manager should be looking for the best value for the ability level he wants.
If we want wood we will have to outbid Millwall. If we dont get campbell because of wages and we dont get wood because of millwall who else is there? We do need someone.
This time last year nobody thought Jason Roberts would be available in January, then he went on TV and basically gave a come and get me plea. There's no need for people to fixate on two players now and make out if we don't get them then we're ****ed. There could be a player Bruce thinks is equal to Campbell who becomes available and we can get him for £5k/wk less than Campbell. In that situation Campbell's wages rule him out but we'd be far from in trouble when it came to it.
Personally we should see if Keane is available on loan. The MLS season is over and the dude looked on fire to me. Had 22 goals in 33 games, I know it is the MLS but he is more than one class above anyone else here.
I'd love us to go for Wood, I'd put him ahead of Campbell, who it seems still thinks he's too good for the Championship.
Keane would stroll into many teams in the Premier League, there's no way he'll take a Championship loan.
When does the MLS start up again? It worries me that some of our loans are not season long. What is the position with Brady who has just extended ubtil early Jan.What happens then. Can he go elsewhere or does he have to go back & stay at MU (unless sold). Is there an update on Meyler?
It begins in the 2nd week of March. He would count as a foreign loan so it wouldnt go against our 5. I know he wont come here, but for gods sake the dude plays in the MLS. That **** must be boring. From watching LA play it isnt any sort of challenge for the guy and unlike beckham who could barely run down the field Keane still has it. Again, I know he wont come here.
HULL CITY are unlikely to make a January move for Fraizer Campbell despite Steve Bruce’s admiration for his former striker. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...underland-s-fraizer-campbell-a-miss-1-5199305
I would expect the intention is to make them season long loans (or permanents) at the start of January. Outside of the main windows though we can only do emergency loans which is obviously why that's all most of them are.
I asked mike white on twitter about campbell today. He responded to me and said that he thought the blink would return closer to the window opening and it wasnt a done deal that we were not going for him.
You know what ? sadly for you I actually believe that you believe that statement. Then again compared to Bob Carvers chips.......... If Steve Bruce is serious about wanting FC then wages wont be an issue. But we can get much better than the 20-40k a week FC is supposed to be on. All roads should lead to Chris Wood. If MON wants him out then it will be a 50/50 split. FFS its only for 6 months anyway IF FC were to happen. The Allams said last summer that they will invest in JANUARY and you can bet that this wont change. With the new PL money on offer they would be penny wise and pound foolish to hold back. 150m is what a place in the PL is worth from next season.
Thats where he will be next season hopefully with us back in the PL. FC ego shows no sign of easing off. Let the midland banker rott on Sunderlands bench. Going back to Aston Villa in Jan on loan according to SSN. Indeed. Far better than FC anyway and proven at this level this season.
Hearing this is all but agreed from the same kid who told me about the dudgeon injury before it became public knowledge, thing is seems a lil odd hes saying its a loan deal to the end of the season at which point his contract will have expired, unless the loan fee paid is also a transfer fee??????
I'm sure it's not unheard of that a player would be loaned out for the remainder of his contract. If we got a loan offer for Oli in Jan we would take it wouldn't we?
Maybe it would be a loan since they are light on cover. You could write the contract so you would pay the transfer fee as a fee for the loan and then he would be signed on the last day of the loan or something couldnt you?
Not to mention it will be easier to get some outside investment into the club if we are in the Premier League. An opportunity to spread their risk and even revive their plans for a sports village
