http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20631963 What do you all make of this? Will it not lead to situations like: "If England beat Sweden in the 3rd group match in Istanbul, their quarter-finals game is in Moscow on Tuesday, if they draw it's Madrid on Wednesday. Get to the semis and it'll be either Rome or Rekjavik.". How are fans supposed to plan for that?
There was nothing wrong with the old format of 16 Finalists, so why on Earth did UEFA see fit to change it to 24? We will now have two weeks of utterly meaningless competition while the dross is eliminated.
Best of all, it was our idea. And in implementing it, it then meant we could never host it either. SFA are geniuses I tell ye!
I don't see the issue. So long as they bunch the countries together where the games are held. French, British, Dutch, Belgian cities are all more accessible than going from one side of Poland to the other side of Ukraine. It will also mean you don't get stuck in complete s hit holes for a few weeks.. From a revenue perspective it will also mean they can pick the biggest stadiums in different countries so more fans can see the game, I assume more fans from one side will get more tickets if they play in stadiums that hold 70k or more.. Some of the stadiums in the last one only held 40k . Would make a great road trip. Will only be a shambles if its spread out too much which I don't think they plan to do.
Looking forward to it. Assuming Europe has emerged from the chronic recession and hasn''t gone to war by then.
Why doesn't Platini go the whole hog and play each half of a match in a different City, thus spreading the impact of the EUROS even further?
