QPRQPR accused in âDennis the Menaceâ row 05/12/2012 by David McIntyre A furious QPR fan is accusing the club of stealing his idea for next seasonâs away kit. Richard Deeney, who runs a menswear company, believes Rangersâ proposed red and black shirt is based on a mock-up he put together earlier this year. Deeney set up a Facebook group to urge fans to back his proposed design, which he and others âtweetedâ to chairman Tony Fernandes as well as club staff. QPR recently invited fans to choose from a number of possible away shirts in a poll on their official website. The so-called Dennis the Menace look has been worn by the Râs in previous seasons and remains hugely popular, so is certain to be chosen. And Deeney is convinced the design [pictured above] is based on his. âIâm not looking to cause trouble. Iâm a lifelong Rangers fan and itâs not really about the financial aspect,â he said. âIâd just like the club to be courteous and honourable enough to admit the designs were based on ours. âSure, one or two things have been changed. But the basic âDennis the Menaceâ design is clearly based on our mock-up. âWe wanted a sharp, modern-looking kit, with clean lines, a slight retro feel, smarter collar etc, so we thought we would design our own kit. âTony Fernandes says he reads all tweets and I find it hard to believe he nor anyone at the club saw what we sent. âThere were several tweets sent and Facebook postings on fan and club pages from very early in the year to the club and Tony Fernandes. âThe club say no-one there saw the designs we suggested and I just donât buy that. Itâs too much of a coincidence.â QPR insist their design is in no way based on Deeneyâs and that the club were unaware of his suggestions.
how dare QPR put out a red and black striped shirt you can see the pics on west london sport no idea why the text copies but the pictures dont
Hey...I can see the problem.... both kits are black and red (or his is red and black).... and QPR have never had an away "Denis the menace" kit!!! and certainly not one the fans have been clamoring for for years!!!!! Of course, the club have pinched his ideas!!!! Bet a life mate Go and train dogs to drive or something else useful
I hope he doesnt see me wearing my old black and red hooped shirt he may try and sue me! What a prized cock this man must be. Life long fan my arse LOL
I personally think we should copy this design: Turn the grey into the blue and put the grey where the blue is and we'd have a nice kit

I've got a Dennis The Menace QPR shirt already with Ericsson as the sponsor. I wore it to Anfield last season just incase any scouser saw my QPR shirt under my jacket before the game.
Are there meant to be the thin white lines between the red and the black on the shirt on the right? Much better just plain black and red and god forbid we end up with that green and yellow Caterham SA lookalike abortion. What other clubs have changed their strip colours to suit one of their owner's companies?
What other clubs have given the fans a chance to vote on which of 3 kits to have? You'll be pleased to know that Dennis is an easy winner.
Just to highlight something, the kit the club have produced doesn't have a sponsor on it. Are you guys expecting a change?
