This is probably a bit off thread but on about the non league & staying in business in Saturdays programme there was a piece about Matt Bloomfield made his debut in a 2-0 home defeat to RUSHDEN & DIAMONDS who I believe went out of business altogether. The Wanderers are still here maybe struggling but still here.

I dont think people are less suportive but as others have said we are having a poor season thus far. the club is still strugling off the pitch. you can only do so many reports of the better team won but we looked good at times. ect. I go to as many games as i can but it costs too mutch for me to go week in and week out. I will suport the club as much as I can, but simple facts are it costs aprox £50 for me and my dad to go!!! I keep an eye on this forum but there is genraly a lack of news, as nothing realy has changed. this is why i think thins are quiert at the mow.

I try to log on to catch up on things on here every day or two to find out peoples views on the latest news but there isn't that much news about match days excepted (we all knew Gareth was going to get the managers job) and with the depressing injury list and poor performances don't help but what I like about this forum is the lack of bull there is the gas room for that.
All I can say is thanks Ron for the betting threads and other interesting posts keep it up we all appreciate them <ok>

<ok> high guys sorry i haven't been posting because im very busy at the moment. i believe the attendance for this Saturday gone was 3856 with 71 dale fans. but no indication from the club who mon was? which is very strange even for are standards lately! we need to get the fans back. i certainly still believe in the trust.

I haven't been able to get to any games for the last two seasons, Ron, for a multitude of reasons and so felt ill equipped to comment. I will try harder.

The problem is that we are rebuilding and with the economic situation facing us is making it very difficult for the club to make headway. The next few years will be tough but if we can stay in league football then we will become a better club for it. Not sure what will happen if we get relegated as I think crowds will fall to around 2,000 and financially this will make things worse. We need to try and see if we can reduce or ticket prices by 15% with special days to try and get people in.

Thanks JS. Any chance you could elaborate on that please? On my few ventures there I haven't found it to be that usable but that could be an age thing. I couldn't find any stats about number of posts/ views/ replies. Nor could I find a way of discovering the number of active users.

Obviously it is a very well established forum so it isn't a case of competing with the Gasroom. Its main purpose was to be a suitable alternative to the BBC 606 following its closure. Presumably some people were members of BBC606 and Gasroom, and Not 606 was chosen as the best way that could continue. I think there is no doubt that objective was achieved but having seen forums on other sites fall by the wayside due to lack of numbers I would be disappointed if this forum also fizzled out.

Maybe if we could all list what we like about the forum and what we don't like, plus suggestions for improvement, we could make it more active and a better place to be. Hopefully attract some more members.

Any ideas to improve the forum and make it more attractive would be very much appreciated.

i have a link to not606 as my signature on another forum that i use. that alone this week as seen us on the gas board gain 4 new members already. basically advertising the site for me personally is the best way to get more people in. but getting people here to see the site is much easier than keeping them here. so we made some changes and introduced some house rules for our board agreed by our members basically to clean up our board and make it more attractive so if people join up, they like it and keep returning. since the end of october when we made a few changes on our board for the better, we have had over 20 new members and over 5 inactive members returned to being active again as they prefer the new changes and suits them better.

is there anything i can help you with ron? you know me my friend, always happy to help <ok>

So folks, what should we do?

What really makes a forum is its members. So the two main objectives for us are straight forward:
    (i) to retain our valued members, and that means all our registered members
(ii) to attract and retain new members

How we do this requires feedback from our current active members and, if possible, inactive and potentially new members. All feedback will be really appreciated and give us a better chance to implement key improvements.

We do have the basic requirements for an excellent forum, which is why we came here. Our forum is based on vBulletin, the world's leading community software. A new version is in test at present so hopefully that will make it more user friendly and help to attract/retain members. We don't have an implementation timescale as yet because it would not be prudent for it to be launched until it has been proved stable; but I will keep everyone informed as soon as I hear anything.

It's not necessary, or indeed a good idea, to try to woo members from other sites but it would be nice if members from other sites were to find our forum sufficiently inviting to pop over for the occasional sharing of views/competitions etc. Maybe we could be more active in promoting our forum elsewhere with this in mind. Any help here would be appreciated as would any ideas to add interest to our forum.

I'm looking to you good folk to help wherever you can.

    Thank you
    Ron

    Hey Ron,

Good idea to beef it up.

Likes - 1) I find it easier to use then many others including Gasroom 2) I can use it in work 3) users are friendly and seem on my wavelength. 4) the betting forum (although I'm not doing to well)

Improvements - 1) I really liked the match thread for the Bristol Rovers game, if we could get something like this for all games that would be good (i might start to give it a go, but unsure about posting on other teams threads). 2) We are missing a good match report following matches, I think a fair number of us on here can't get to most games and would like a good report and player scores etc. LukeHarris used to do this but haven't heard from him for a while. If we don't get someone on here to do it maybe a like to a good blog or website would work.
