http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/je...tarting-quarterback-against-jaguars-on-sunday I guess there is no surprise there. As a long time Jets fan, I can't say I'm overly impressed with the current version of Mark Sanchez. He is too prone to force passes and winds up intercepted a lot. He can make great throws and can be really accurate, but isn't consistent enough for my liking. Tebow was injured last week, when Sanchez was yanked from the game after his third interception (in the first Half). Greg McElroy threw a touchdown pass and otherwise did a nice job managing the offense. The announcers derided both offenses as inept in the 7-6 Jets win over the Arizona Cardinals. To be fair to McElroy, his entry into the game engergized the crowd and got the team moving. When he threw the TD pass, we Jets fans got the spark of life back. I just hope that Mark Sanchez doesn't promptly extinguish it again.
Not surprised either, would have taken a leap of considerable faith to put McElroy in (even against the Jags), make sense to give Sanchez the start, not doubt he'd have been told that its Vegas or Bust in the next two games for him!
I just don't get it, the guy makes faulty decisions for two seasons now. Should've been ditched last season
Honestly, the thought of Sanchez, Tebow or McElroy isn't exactly a who's-who of MVP candidates. Surely, a new QB is a must?
Tebow is a better QB, but he had only one season to prove himself. I'd say give him a chance next season and get McElroy some time in pre-season.
Surely Tebow has to get the nod.... He may be an average thrower, but you always know somethings going to happen when he's got the ball
Probably neither Tebow or McElroy are good enough. But they already know Sanchez isn't the answer, and the Jets are going nowhere this season. They should have benched Sanchez a couple of games ago and by now they might already have a good idea on one of either Tebow or McElroy and then they could use the other. I would just fire Rex Ryan now. I mean, he's terrible and you're going to fire him anyway. Use an interim headcoach who might at least use some of the Jets' young players so you can evaluate them for next season. 2012 is over, but you can start your 2013 season right now and get a leg up. Especially if you stink your way into a decent draft pick.
I think Tebow is good enough. Just recapture last season, poor start but in the end, he manages to get a team to the AFC semi final with an amazing 3d and 4th down conversion rate. And his 4th quarter rushing is still legendary... Exactly what the Jets need. Give him a full season and he might just hand them a title... maybe not the Super Bowl but maybe an AFC North title...
