Good player, lots to learn but already can impose himself on a game if he's in the mood. Still only 20! He's got a big future ahead of him if he stays grounded, keeps on improving and ironing out the little mistakes in his game. Hopefully that future is with us.
Shelvey...maybe. I've said before he is a player with loads going for him but has that headless chicken side to him. Has to become more consistent and more reliable which may well come with time. Henderson...I see nothing yet to suggest he'll be anything more than average. That's not to say average players can't be of use in a squad (see Carrick as a good example) but people can't just keep pulling Lucas up as an example. 95% of players who look average at Hendos age turn out to be...average. Can I see anything yet to suggest Henderson will develop massively? Nope but I'll certainly not fault the lad for effort.
I don't see why not. It's a perfect example of fans not having a clue really because they don't see what goes on and for me Henderson has a lot more to his game now than Lucas did when he joined.
Good player and will only get better, his movements and shapes remind me a lot of Zidane and before anyone jumps on that, just his movements and the arching of the body when in possession.
Agree with MITO... it's all PR rubbish. Shelvey might well mean what he says but it's still PR rubbish. He needs to improve his first touch, but he does have the ability to ping passes, get shots at goal and has the knack of being involved in the box. Needs to sort his tackling too, actually. Carrick is a good player. He's criticised far too much. He'd start for us regularly.
Shelvey has the energy and the physicality for the game, as well as a good knowledge of attacking play. Perhaps much more than most players his age. However he's got an over active brain and often looks manic, or possessed on the pitch. Sometime he makes poor decisions and can ruin a fluid move in one moment of madness. That being said, if he can gain some game intelligence he can really become a good player. As for Hendo, he has extremely developed technical skills, often training with the spaniards and exceeding even their skills. However he has a lack of confidence that translates onto the pitch, taking the safe option instead of the risky one. He's also played out of position but that's quickly remedied. If they both smarten up they can develop into fantastic players.
also agree mostly.... but i think shelvey's got to do a bit in the big games not the mickey mouse cup to prove himself. he's a decent talent but i think he's too inconsistent so i can see him being another benayuon type.. guys will be asking why's he not played more after he does something good but any time he gets 5 games 4 of them will be average/poor. henderson is indeed playing too safe, confidence or what i don't know. i think its something where he needs to want the ball more, get on it and get it moving. he need to increase the tempo not by running aorund but by just injecting that mentality of give it to me then i'll move it fast. if he does that the confidence will come.
