Can't condone what has happened, but none of my business really, do you think he will become a full time WHU player, can't see Liverpool wanting to keep him.

Yes it probably is a good job I am not his lawyer. I am woefully under qualified afterall.

I am not talking from a legal perspective. I am talking about how things work in real life.

If this photographer has ignored repeated requests to stop taking photos then **** him. You can tell by his smarmy little face what a wind up he was probably being. What did he think was going to happen?

Family gatherings in Ireland are usually lively affairs is all I am saying. Of course not all Irishmen are violent. That would be a ridiculous generalisation. But a fair few can get quite excitable as I have experienced and the only reason I bought that up was because you seemed to think it was absurd to suggest that the 5" 8" Irish photographer could have been the one kicking off.

You and I are clearly from different walks of life. I think if someone contiues to be disrespectful and wont listen then you have the right to stand up for yourself. What do you think he should have done? Call the police? I am not a violent person at all but I I think it is acceptable give the bloke a clump if he was being a persistant nuisance.

Eye gouging is unpleasant but I am not sure this even happened and if it did, I would guess it was more a grab of the face during a scuffle rather than an intentional attack on the blokes eyeball.

Anyway I'm gonna leave it that.

Firstly, the law applies to real life. So you'd better get used to learning how real life actually works before you find yourself on the wrong side of it.

Secondly, again, I think he should have let the security professionals do their job and deal with this guy. Carroll had no need to do anything.

ehhh... I don't know. I sort of agree with Trixter. Some people deserve a punch in the face, so I'm not very sympathetic to the cameraman. On the other hand, people over the age of 12 should know that punching someone is not the right thing to do either, and there are better ways to handle it. Just because someone might deserve a punch in the face doesn't mean you should give them one.

As far as this individual incident is concerned, it doesn't seem like a huge deal. But let's be real, it probably doesn't happen if Carroll isn't piss drunk. And Carroll being piss drunk and doing something stupid and violent yet again is a problem. He needs to get some help for his anger/alcohol issues and if he won't do it voluntarily I have no problem with the court sentencing him to a short prison stay or rehab to get the message across.

I've always imagined that, if I was famous and being followed around by cameramen, I'd probably end up punching one. But I'd take a punishment for that, and I'd deserve it too.

But if you had a team of security guards with you? If you're on your own then I can sympathise to a small extent, but if you have people with you who are employed to keep you out of trouble (and other people out of your way) then there is no conceivable excuse for acting yourself.

I'd probably be annoyed with them for making me need security guards. Besides, the paparazzi method of journalism is a moral grey area, and the legality of it is always being debated. I personally don't think the current law has got it right, and I think it should amount to harassment. I'm not saying acting yourself would be the right thing to do, but we all do the wrong thing now and again, especially when we're in a bad mood. I probably wouldn't be able to help myself.

Thank you for that Inspector Sensible.

Don't worry. I am not about to embark on a life of crime just because I said some whiney little photographer deserved a clump!

A well clued up ITK on kumb has said we do want to sign him but his form will have to improve considerably if we are going to consider paying anything like 17m for him.

If we can get him for a sensible fee he will be a superb signing for us. He has been on a bit of a drought since joining but has been playing well and the goals will come I am sure.

He clearly likes a drink and its fair to say he is a bit wild but he comes across well when interviewed and I am sure he will calm down.

    Sign him up I say.

Strewth mate you do talk a load of codswallop at times.......If you become famous it stands to reason that you are going to be photographed where ever you are and have to accept that. No doubt it can be annoying but it goes as they say with the territory.
No one has a right to use violence to another no matter what the circumstances. No doubt if you had been thumped you would have to be restrained from hitting back too.
Most likely he had a skin full and did not want to have his antics photographed for people to see at home. Tough......and just for the record I would say exactly the same if one of ours did something similar.
Justifying violence because he asked for it is a load of rubbish and I can assure you that no reporter or photographer ever would start a fight!! (At least while on duty anyway)

You can defend someones actions of drunken behaviour if you choose to, but to the majority....Including your own fans, they will be disgusted and will find it indefensible.

It's one of the nicer things that's been said about me recently to be fair.

Dman you seem to be becoming as obsessed with me as that LauraB person is with Boruc!

To quote fMLSc. "Just because punchups happen every week, doesn't make it right".

By the same token, just because paparazzi photographers behave like this every week and don't allow celebrities a moments privacy - doesn't "make it right".

This supposedly occurred in the early hours of the morning. I would imagine Carrol had been being photographed all night without complaint. Understandably there came a point when he would have said "enoughs enough".

If the little weasel faced snapper couldn't respect that and continued to ignore requests then **** him. I would have given him a slap too.

Fair enough...... so you wouldn't complain then if charges were brought and you were sent down for a while. You would say that it was a fair cop?
I can't see it myself you would still say he deserved it....he was wrong and you were right. Just because you felt like it.....No mate somehow you need to be a bit more controlled in your thought process........The consequences just are not worth the risk.....Mind you no doubt you do not think that there would be consequences for your actions. He will be very lucky if he is not brought to book about this. Very lucky indeed....but hey sometimes there is no justice in the world.
