I think if we tried hard enough we could prove conclusively why every driver apart from Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso and Raikkonen have no business in the top 10. With Jenson as well its a case of who was better? In Marks defense he had a significantly tougher yardstick in Vettel than say Hulk had with Di Resta or Maldonado with Senna I agree with how hard it is to say though in such a weird year. Everyone had at least one good (even Karthikeyan!) and one bad moment.
1) Fernando Alonso 2) Lewis Hamilton 3) Kimi Raikonnen 4) Sebastian Vettel 5) Nico Hulkenberg 6) Mark Webber 7) Sergio Perez 8) Jenson Button 9) Nico Rosberg 10) Kamui Kobayashi Special Mention: Romain Grosjean for generally having pretty good pace in the race and qualifying, but it counts for nothing when he's involved in many first lap collisions. Also Charles Pic for not only retaining an F1 seat for 2013, but actually showing signs of potential, unlike di Grassi and D'Ambrosio
1. Fernando Alonso =2. Kimi Raikkonen =2. Lewis Hamilton 4. Sebastien Vettel 5. Nico Hulkenburg 6. Mark Webber 7. Jenson Button 8. Sergio Perez 9. Charles Pic 10. Kamui Kobayashi Special mention to Maldo. He maybe only had 2 or 3 performances that would deserve a top 10 place, personally I value consistency a lot, hence the placings of Kimi and Alonso.
Senna, Ricciardo, Vergne ,PDLR and Darth Karth. Who else on the grid do you think would have scored less than Maldo in that Williams? Barcelona for me was probably the best drive from anyone this season but its not an excuse for the rest of his races. As i said for me the Williams was probably better than the Mercedes. Let alone Sauber and FI.
1st: F. Alonso 2nd: L. Hamilton 3rd: K. Raikkonen 4th: S. Vettel 5th: N. Hulkenberg 6th: M. Webber 7th: J. Button 8th: C. Pic 9th: F. Massa 10th: S. Perez Special mention: T. Glock, V. Petrov, D. Ricciardo
1st: Vettel 2nd: Hamilton 3rd: Räikkönen 4th: Alonso 5th: Button 6th: Webber 7th: Hülkenberg 8th: Massa 9th: Schumacher 10th: Rosberg Special Mention: Maldonado, Perez
1st: Alonso 2nd: Vettel 3rd: Hamilton 4th: Kimi 5th: Button 6th: Massa 7th: Hülkenberg 8th: Webber 9th: Maldonado 10th: Perez Special Mention: Schumacher still being competitive even after all these years.
Here are my dozen for the top ten: 1st: Hamilton 2nd: Alonso (A doggedly determined performance in a car that was rarely best). 2nd: Vettel (Virtually as good as Alonso, so I've given them joint 2nd. A great performance in what was overall, in my view, the best car; but he still did the bizz). 4th: Räikkönen (After Schumacher's dismal 'comeback', Kimi's performance was refreshingly good quality). 5th: Button (A good solid performance but not good enough by his own definition). 6th: Webber (Never easy playing number two; but not his best season). 7th: Maldonado (Showing real potential now). 7th: Hulkenberg (Joint 7th, as per above). 9th: Rosberg (Still something of an enigmaâ¦(?)) 10th: Petrov/Glock/Grosjean? (Glock is a solid driver who I'd like to see in a better car. Petrov has learned his trade well and his team mate Kovalainen is no pushover. Grosjean? The question mark is because he's undoubtedly quick but seems to lack some vitally important spacial awareness. Special mention: Kobayashi. Probably the best driver to ever come from Japan. I wish him the very best of luck and hope we'll see him on an F1 grid again soon.
1st: Alonso 2nd: Raikkonen 3rd: Hamilton 4th: Vettel 5th: Webber 6th: Hulkenberg 7th: Massa 8th: Button 9th: Maldonado 10th: Perez kudos to: Pic and Vergne
I'm just laughing at people who put Schumacher anywhere near the top ten, he got totally destroyed by his mediocre team-mate in a car that was designed around him. One of the worst drivers in the championship this season
I think any real objective list should end in the order 1. Alonso 2. Schumacher 3. Webber 4. The rest. .
I wouldn't say I'm laughing at people but apart from that, I pretty much agree with your comments on Schumacher, Miggins. Unfortunately for some; in retiring, he's finally done the right thing for himself…
1) Fernando Alonso 2) Lewis Hamilton 3) Sebastian Vettel 4) Nico Hulkenberg 5) Kimi Raikonnen 6) Charles Pic 7) Michael Schumacher 8) Sergio Perez 9) Mark Webber 10) Jenson Button
I thought Schumacher actually put in some good performances this year, he just got some horrendous luck.
yeah, he was unlucky he missed his grid box, turned off the engine, flew off track, smashed into Senna, smashed into Vergne and got trounced by the mediocre Rosberg by almost double the points  His 'good' performances were mainly due to someone else taking out half the drivers ahead of him, 1 qualifying lap of monaco doesn't equate to a top ten driver.
Deep breaths. So we've got there three terrible races granted he was awful in Hungary, Spain and Singapore. Thats not really all that many. If you can see that mechanical failures are the reason Rosberg beat him then there is no hope. Do you see Button and Hamilton as being equal in 2012?
Schumacher's leaving F1 for good. Any last love or disdain for him is going to be milked to the bitter end. I am intrigued to see who is next seasons scapegoat is.
maybe he lost 20 points in mechanical failures, although at least one of the 'mechanical failures' was him late braking himself and ending up off-track, that still puts him 20 odd points behind Rosberg, who failed to score in a few races due to being punted off track by other drivers
I think Grosjean has made the first claim for that, although he doesn't have the same ardent followers of course, Maldo is probably a reasonable shout too. Unfortunately it doesn't look like we've got any rookies in decent cars next year.
