It depends on how quickly they can get the car fixed. It was in a bit of a state, and if they've done a quick repair job he could get niggly little problems throughout the session.

Team Lotus technical chief Mike Gascoyne on Twitter: "Looks like the rain has stopped and a dry line is appearing on the track. Forecast now saying it may stay dry for the rest of the weekend."

Croft and Hamilton (I think it's them) are going on about McLaren's superior race pace to Red Bull. <yawn>

I can't believe people who watch every session of every weekend buy into that bullshit. Webber was two seconds a lap faster in race trim than everyone else in China. The McLarens were as quick as Red Bull in Malaysia qualifying, but Vettel dominated the race despite losing Kers. Why would you pound round flat out in the race if you're a second a lap faster? It's not that they don't have the pace some weekends, it's that they often don't need to use it. Use you common sense. <doh>

    Rant over!

It's all about the tyres now so they can't really stretch the legs of the car without completely ruining their race.

Gather after quali the vettel doubters will get their wish hoping he will mess up to see him at work.

I still think he'll be on the front two rows, and I wouldn't rule him out for pole.

Hmmmmmmm could Nico/Schumacher draw first blood getting pole rather than a McLaren. It just looked they were close in race and quali times yet both Mercedes were losing time with the settings on turn 8.

    Hmmmmmm...

SilverArrow.. I wouldn`t read the first part if I was you.....

    FP1

Vettel got it wrong and so did his team when he went out on the inters on a wet track and lost the car on the exit of turn 8 and that was the end of his first session. Got even worse later as he missed the whole of FP2 due to the damage. Fernando set good pace on the wets and so did Rosberg. Hamilton and Button didnt set a lap while many drivers got caught out in the tricky conditions.

Well Mercedes look like they have closed the gap with consistent results, a pole ? Maybe... I hope.
They work hard and it nearly brought a tear to my eye watching him in p1 in practice 2 for so long...

Haha, pretty quiet here, humble pie anyone, its too soon to say this but I have a feeling, with results like this reproduced consistently there is always a chance for the top 3, Michael or Nico.
    It's practice so...

Yeah, think Ferrari is not getting anywhere. They were probably not expecting big steps but Alonso seems to going backwards.
Anyway, any smell you guys are perceiving can only be the slightest of hints.
This is only practice and we are to see what RB does tomorrow in the all-dry weekend

Pat Fry: "Some of the new elements, like the rear wing for example, immediately showed good results, while others, such as the floor and the front wing, still need further careful evaluation."

In terms of the car's performance, it's didn't look too bad apart from Alonso's problems in second practice.

Yer that wasn't the cars real pace with regarding alonso. I do believe Mercedes has surpassed Ferrari now in terms of overall speed, but we'll see at quali.

We'll see about that. Mercedes won't be a threat if Schumacher can't even get to Q3.
