    Premier league era only.

    So no Rush, Kenny, etc.

Like I said probably a Scholes is a lock but then do you go with Giggs or Barnes? Macca in there? Up top Cantona, CR, Owen, Torres, Fowler, Heskey......................

Hell we could even do a "flops" team as well. Carroll, Veron would be right up there with that.

Have we ever had one of those? What is it? Jordi Cruyff?

    Schmeichel
    Neville-Stam-Vidic-Irwin
    Gerrard-Scholes-Keane-Giggs
    Ronaldo-Cantona

    Job done.

Flops, in tried and tested Fussball formation:

    Taibi
    Josemi-Dossena
    Gonazlez-Veron-Aquilani-Djemba-Downing
    Keane-Forlan-Diouf

So you guys win that one <ok>

Ability to get booked whilst contributing absolutely nothing to the team. And he would only cost £21.75 million, as you'd only need to pay for half of Djemba-Djemba <ok>

    Schmeichel
    Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic, Irwin
    Ronaldo, Gerrard, Keane, Giggs
    Fowler, Cantona.

The fairest list you could ever hope to get. Just a few tweaks from Swarbs' list.

Some unlucky to miss out like Hyypia, Owen, Carra, Bruce, Scholes, Cole, RVN, McManaman etc but someone has to miss out <ok>

Figured the top side would barely have any Liverpool players in it. I am sure one of us will come in with Fowler, Barnes, Macca ( possibly), Hyypia, Maybe a Riise in there. RB and LB I was struggling to think of many top ones we had. I know I would have gone with Scholes-Alonso, just imagine the amount of completely accurate passes!!! <laugh>

Kleberson much in the flop side? Still very early but I know some would throw Jones in the back of that side. Bit too early on that though for me.

To be honest bluff Barnes was past his best by the time the premier league came along.
He played in it but there are better performers in his position in that era.

Same with Robson, he wouldn't quite squeeze in my side because of this.

In all absolute honesty the only Liverpool player who would come close to my combined eleven would be Fowler, to play alongside Cantona.

Even then I would pick Ruud ahead of him!

edit- way too premature to be calling Jones a flop mate!

barnes was just kind of "name" being suggested more or less.

What years was Rob Jones Gerrez? I literally came about liverpool in 96, Was 12 at the time.

  13. He retired through injury in 1999 but had struggled with them for a year or two previous. IMO, Gary Neville wouldn't have had as many caps if Rob Jones hadn't have had to retire early. Neville would have still got a fair amount because he's quite a bit younger, but Jones would have been ahead of him earlier on IMO <ok>

Edit: that's not me condemning Gary Neville, as much of a prick I think he is, he was a quality player and he is a very good pundit too <ok>

Ya around the time I was more impressed with Fowler, Macca, Redknapp, berger, think owen had just came into the side then. Barnes was near enough the end of his career.

  15. Owen broke into the side in 1997 I think, he went to France 98 on the back of his debut season <ok>

Fowler started to go downhill around 1997-98, injuries and selection problems. Macca was great but not really fully appreciated until he had gone IMO. Redknapp was another player that was brilliant but struggled with injuries (aka Aquilani, Agger, Torres, etc). Berger was superb in his first couple of seasons but tailed off just as quickly <ok>

    My team:

    Schmeichel
    Neville
    Stam
    Vidic
    Irwin

    Ronaldo
    Keane
    Scholes
    Giggs

    Cantona
    Ruud

Subs: rob jones, hypia, gerrard on for scholes. Fowler on for ruud is say Torres as well as he was tremendous for a couple of seasons. I'd have alonso on the bench too.

Nah, no chance you can miss Scholes out. Best CM of the PL era - has been running the show for us for 15 years plus. Fowler may make it in ahead of Ronaldo as CR only had three or four great seasons. But then so did Fowler, and he was never WPOTY.

Kleberson gets an honourable mention, but the competition for CMs in that team is fierce! Kleberson was pretty cheap compared to Aquilani and Veron, nowhere near as **** as Djemba Djemba, and might have worked out very differently if he hadn't gotten injured in his second game. But you could easily switch him in for Dossena and shift Downing to full back if you prefer <ok>

No chance Jones would get anywhere near the flop team. You'd have to go through Carroll, Henderson, Diao, Bellion, Bebe, Degen, Konchesky, Poulsen, Cheyrou, Biscan, Jovanovic, Nunez, J. Cole and Morientes before you even get near to Jones. I've also resisted putting in players who are still at the clubs, cos you never know if Carroll or Henderson could turn it around.

Probably why I idolize Macca, Fowler, Berger so much as they were still in good form right as I really started to support. Then it was Owen that came through and all that. <ok>

**** I was lucky enough to have the channels that showed the games!! think it cost a pretty penny back then as well.

Morientes still can't figure out why it didn't work! He was such class too. :/

What do United fans consider Howard btw? Just curious.
