QPR Line Up Move to Sign Real Madrid Defender
by The Newshound December 4th, 2012

Loftus Road side hope to land experienced centre-back.

According to Italian source CalcioMercato QPR are lining up a January move for Real Madrid centre-back Ricardo Carvalho.

The veteran Portuguese international has previously been linked with a Loftus Road switch and the need for defensive reinforcements at the West London club are plain to see. The bottom of the table side have conceded 27 goals in 15 Premier League matches this season and Harry Redknapp would do well to sign the former Chelsea man to help steady the ship.

The 34 year old is yet to play a single minute of La Liga action this term and has only been used in the Copa del Rey so one would imagine Jose Mourinho wouldn’t stand in Carvalho’s way if he opted to make a return to West London.

Carvalho has racked up almost 500 senior club appearances during a career that has seen the no-nonsense defender pick up seven domestic titles in three nations as well as a Champions League winners medal and he could well be of great use to Redknapp in the short-term.

QPR signed Esteban Granero from the Bernabeu side this summer so could well retain a good relationship with the La Liga giants.

Great signing, another £100k player who wants to retire early at LR. Perfect.

After loss to Barcelona when the fans were down in a interview after the match he laughed his face off. Can't stand him since then.

Was thinking more about Hill & Nelson with the possibility of Mbai slotting in if need be.

Do we rate him as better than them? Personally not sure as I havent seen much of him lately?

Ajax was very poor and I didn't see a lot of Carvalho. He only played 2 or 3 matches this year. I wouldn't sign him
