I had the radio on and was reading my newspaper while having my breakfast and after 10 pages of royal baby speculation and half an hour of royal baby news on the radio I was feeling as nauseous as the pregnant Duchess.

Then the radio started to speculate on potential names for the child and when a caller thought should it be a girl it would be really lovely to call it Diana I was suddenly violently sick.

However getting back to the point of my posting should this brat turn out to be a boy should its parents encourage it to take up a career as a footballer as I believe it would be far more lucrative, more fun and less stressful than being a king.

Who ever heard of a king being rich enough to wipe his arse with £20 notes? I was always told kings spent all day counting their money. Usually they had too little of it according to my school history teacher.

If he did make the grade as a footballer who should he play for?

Palace or His mum’s local team Reading known as the Royals.

I’m not joking because if I was his dad I would tell him to develop a second career just in case old St Godders and his republican friends get their way and get rid of the monarchy once and for all.

Not a chance Godders...you are well in the minority. I do, however, agree about the name Diana, especially for a boy

As a country we are hard up and struggling to make ends meet. Tourism is a great source of revenue so we need to increase tourism. France is the most visited country in the world. They bumped off all their aristocracy and if we did the same then perhaps we would become the most visited country and all of our economic ills would be solved.

The less I hear and see about this, the better. Unfortunately unless I stick my head under the blankets for the next couple of years, I probably still will hear and see a lot.

I have no real ill will against the Duke or Duchess, but jesus christ I am bloody sick of hearing about them. If there was a good grumpy smiley I'd use it.

May the bluebird of happiness deposit some sweetness over the sad sour castle that you inhabit and refresh your outlook on your world. The festive season is upon us and I refrain from saying "off with his head" !!!

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN! I think that tells you may view on the monarchy.

As for names, I hope they don't go for something unoriginal like William, Henry, Edward or George if it's a boy. Wouldn't it be cool to see a King Adam or King Edmund (hearken back to our Anglo-Saxon heritage maybe!) or King Julian or King Sebastian. Even King Stephen would make a nice change, although I think that's unlikely as the only King Stephen ruled during a time of civil war. Likewise James won't be likely (due to the whole James II being a Catholic) and neither would Richard (seeing as he was, er, regicide-d).

I think you will find that the Royal family are one of our biggest draws. I do support Charles in his plan to slim down the Civil List. Only those actively taking on some of the Queen's work should be paid from the public purse. A lot of money goes on the palaces, but we would be paying for that anyway. And don't forget Presidents don't come cheap.

Well, due to the fact that there's been so few Queens, most names I would say are fairly original. I don't think I'd be favour of Elizabeth but apart from that, anything else would be fine. But of course, something original would be best. Nicola's a lovely name for example, while Jennifer's also a great name (if I ever have a daughter, I'm hopefully naming her Jennifer). Queen Jennifer! Or Queen Annabel! Or Queen Francesca! Queen Rebecca! Queen Celia! Etc

Sebastian and Chardonnay seem names popular with the young set these days.

In these politically correct times perhaps a boy should be called Mohamed and even better if he was gay.

Having a gay King Mohamed would go a long way to easing ethnic/religious/sexual orientation tensions.

Unless something disastrous happens, whatever sex the child is he or she is unlikely to reign until about 2082 and we by that time will be an impoverished insignificant little nation with no United Kingdom and no commonwealth. Ireland will probably be united and independent, Scotland will be independent and even more skint than us and the Welsh will be the same only more so.

Germany would have bought the whole of mainland Europe.

Given all of that would you rather be a king or a footballer.

I've never met a Sebastian or a Chardonnay, though the former's quite a good name I think.

And tbh, I think if the the England or the UK is impoverished by 2082, that would be symptomatic of the entire world being so as a result of global climate change and resource depletion rather than just us as a nation.

France also has a love affair with our monarchy, are you saying people go to France as they are a monarchy? Because I dont see people lining up to go to the DRC.

We name Ships after queens so why not name a queen after a ship. How about Celeste, Argo, Bounty or even Titanic?

What would republicans go on about if the monarchy went? Enforced muesli and plastic sandals for everyone?
