Very rarely does a previously successful player returning to a former club work out (Windass being an exception).

If we're serious about mounting a challenge this season (cos we're a bit short at the moment) I expect SB will be aiming higher
    then Campbell.

Forget the FC of old and look at him now.
Two knee injuries will have slowed him and he is presently a rarely used 5th choice striker in a struggling premier club who are struggling to score.
He has 6 months left of his contract so Sunderland will want to sell.
    Is he worth gambling on?
    I wouldn't. I would aim higher.

Campbell hasn't 'done it' for a while. Reading bought Le Fondre when he was 'doing it'. I'd rather have a goal scoring centre forward from the Championship than a 5th choice injury prone striker who can't get into a shockingly poor Sunderland team.

Agree, I'm not sure Campbell is the player he was (Happy to be proven wrong though). We are higher in the league than Burnley, so why can't we have a go for Charlie Austin? Brighton went in for CMS and they were at the same level as P'boro and I can't see Burnley going anywhere so why shouldn't we have a cheeky go?

Campbell will be cheaper than Austin and would probably serve us better in the premiership

We don't know if Austin will make it in the Premiership, we know that Campbell can't, (with Sunderland).

Frazier played for England this year, if he's that bad now you would have thought that the England coaching staff would have known about it.

Interesting how people are split on Campbell on here and elsewhere, for me the England call-up suggests he hasn't declined as a player. He hasn't played that much in his career so thats a worry and I seem to remember he was out injured for spells with us even. I'd still take him as if fit he scores goals and thats what we need and was lethal at our level last time. It could be that the Proschwitz signing gamble has failed but maybe we would get lucky taking another punt on Frazier.

To me its a no brainer, if he's available then we such try and get him back. People are forgetting he played alot of his football on the right hand side for Sunderland. He's still only 25 and I'm convinced if players like Holt and Graham can score 10+ goals in BPL, so can Fraizer.

For me Proschwitz is looking to be SB's one failure, all the rest have been hits.

I could see the Campbell move happening.

None of what you say isnt true. I would also aim higher but what if we cant get anyone better? I would take campbell if he was the best thing we could get.

You know what, that is exactly what i think sums you up and the drivel you come out with on here.

Chris Wood on loan for the season IF he has another year left @ WBA. I dont see Charlie Austin leaving Burnley until the summer unless a desperate PL team offers silly money for him in Jan.

Agree on both posts. We need to move onto better than FC. Its getting silly now.

I think he could do. Danny Graham @ Swansea does not get much of a game either now. MAYBE a chance on loan for him as well in Jan.

This stuff about bringing in 'better than FC' doesn't make much sense really, who do you think we are going to get in realistically? Frazier has a connection to the club at least and is a proven scorer, not only that he outclassed most of the defenders he was up against last time around. Form is temporary, class is permanent, if we got him on a loan in January or whatever for me that is another very shrewd signing by Bruce

His last and only decent scoring record was with us - he has since had 2 major knee injuries. I think we've moved on, if he did come back, I don't think he'd be as good as he was first time round.

He'd be about 4th or 5th choice on my list of strikers, because I think there are better strikers than Campbell playing in the Championship.

Will have to see how it turns out. Interesting you say about the knee injuries, Cameron Stewart maybe didn't get over his properly mentally if not physically and it didnt take long for people to turn on him. Fans are fickle sometimes. If Bruce gets him I think thats a vote of confidence in him.

His one real asset was his pace, pretty sure major knee surgery may have slowed him down a bit.
