SA, that's where the team is from. i saw the article on Sky and was struggling. No thanks, and we don't need another keeper - remember the last player we had from South Africa??!
I disagree. Rudd and Steer are still developing and Rudd would benefit from being 1st choice goalie at another club in a lower division. If Bunn were to be suspended or injured, we need a senior pro to take his place, and, in any case, to keep him on his toes. Most Premier League clubs have three senior goalkeepers and we should be no different. Whether this particular man is the one I have no idea. But Hughton hinted that he was going to look for one, and I can see why. Remember Gunn's injury, and what followed on from that?
gg, we are blessed to have a "family" member with brains as well as beauty! I do indeed remember the problems when Gunny did his ankle, I was sort of hoping that JR wasn't going to be too long! We have to rely on the wisdom of CH for this, and rely on you to remind us!
I hear what you say GG and dave, but you simply cannot legislate for every possible thing that may occur. Rudd is more than a capable No2
Who would be a keeper huh. Everytime Rudd has played he has been great for us and now they are on about getting a keeper in to replace the 2nd choice keeper in case he gets injured. Rudd must be thinking what the hell do I have to do get a chance.
Is this South African keeper really going to be as good as Rudd though, this keeper from South Africa will HAVE to hit the ground running straight away if Bunn picks up an injury which is a big ask. If we need a keeper, get someone who's played English football.
Just watched MotD 2, as I was out last night and see Bunn actually got a hand to the free kick which then rebounded back off the post. On another note Kilgallon should have been sent off, as he wrestled Holt to the ground as the free kick he'd conceded for fouling Holt was being taken.
Agree with the worry GG and was discussing this very point at the weekend but when Gunny got injured we did not have a Bunn quality keeper and I feel Rudd would be fine for a few games but if CH feels JR will be out longer than 3 months I would not be surprised to see a loan in maybe a MLS keeper may be available?
It's all about opinion isn't it. I really rate Rudd, and think that he could do an excellent job week in week out at a good League One or even Championship Club; just like Fraser Forster did for us, and come back a hero and his own man. I don't think being on the bench in case Bunn gets injured or suspended over the next three months will suit his development in the same way, or keep him in the frame for England's under 21's. But the Club can't give him that chance if he's needed to warm the bench and play the odd cup game, which is why I think......
I thought Bunn was fantastic yesterday, he had some exceptionally tricky saves to make under intense pressure not to fumble.
so we go for another back-up keeper. this cannot happen for another month, by which time Ruddy is just about ready to start training. would be a waste of money as he would only be needed as cover for about 3 or 4 matches and by this time Rudd will have been on the bench for 9 matches at least.
I'm on bloody Beta Blockers at the moment and I'm not not sure what the feck I'm doing half the time. Good job I've a nice cushy job as an airline pilot!
