Indeed Leeds City played at Elland Road, but we don't claim any of Leeds City's history. We are an entirely separate club that took their place when they were kicked out of the FL.

Yet you claim all of the liquidated clubs history - bit selective there eh?

We weren't liquidated. So no selectivity there at all. You might want to help yourself by actually researching some facts. <ok>

Leeds United Association Football Club Limited - incorporated 02.10.1920. Went into administration 04.05.07. Entered into a CVA 06.06.07. Went into liquidation 15.02.08

Beat me to it - It amazes me how little so many fickle Leeds fans know about their own club <doh>

Nope. As others seem to be bored of hearing, during the transfer of ownership etc, there was a stage when the assets, players etc had been transferred to newco, and all that was left of the oldco was the golden share to play in the league.
Oldco had no means of supporting itself and no players, ground etc. newco had players, but no more right to play in the league than you or I have. By the rules, that was the end of Leeds United.

What happened was that the football world took pity on Leeds and allowed Newco to take the league position of oldco, but all links with the oldco had effectively been severed, they just happened to be able to rent the ground that oldco had used.

That's very different to most administrations, where the club as an entity, with the right to membership of the football league, continues under different ownership. Leeds lost the right to be members during the change, but a pragmatic and charitable view was taken.

At the point it was liquidated, the football league membership hadn't been transferred to the new club. The new club was simply a collection of footballers with no affiliation to the league. Any other club could have used the place given up by Leeds.

They've always been deluded. Traditionally a second tier side that had a very brief blip that conicided with football on TV.
