Agree I think a Newcastle win suits us best. When they get their top players back in the new year they will pull away.
Why are Reading a given to go down? If they win their game in hand, they'd be above us! And could be by a clear three points depending on result next game. I like your point of view, but frightens me if a team potentially above us in the table is a given to go down!
Without a doubt, come May I reckon the Premiership will be losing a couple of teams who wear stripes.
Well, with the compensation we'd get I would think Guardiola might be a target ......... and if he was watching MOTD2 and saw the build up to Pilkington's goal, he would surely recognise the potential.
Phew - thought you might say Adkins! But seriously, I did wonder if Norwich were what Guardiola was sitting out Abramovich's offer for! Just waiting it out in New York. He was tempted by Ipswich, but felt he couldn't follow in Jim Magilton's footsteps...
Although they do lose Tiote in the new year. God, if only Senegal had qualified for the African Cup too! I do agree that Newcastle will almost certainly fine. Right now, I expect them to finish safely mid-table. But we can't be sure about that. I mean, did anyone even predict them to be in this current position? And it's not like Ben Arfa has been injured all season - it was only 10 days ago he was playing in the Europa League for them! I just think that until they do start pulling away (like Stoke and Norwich have done), we don't want to be encouraging Newcastle wins in any way. They could easily fail to beat Fulham away this weekend, and I can definately see them losing at home to Man City after that. And they finish 2012 with back-to-back away games against Man Utd and Arsenal.
I wouldn't actually mind that happening. When you've lost four in a row, one thing that you probably don't want to go and do is lose a game from 2-0 up and a one man advantage. Newcastle's confidence would be shot. But it'll never happen.
Newcastle beating Wigan 3.0....great for their GD (from our point of view). I thought everyone was going over the top when we lost to Wigan, but I'm beginning to see that we should have done better there.
