need to go back in for Moutinhio and willian..that is all we need and we would be challenging top 2. if only we got them..however would we have got Dembele if we were realistically in for Moutinhio? get onto it now Levy...you might actually manage to sort something out come the transfer window deadline then
No great surprise, but that's the Defoe to QPR story put to bed...... http://www1.skysports.com/football/...he-is-staying-at-Tottenham-for-rest-of-career
from Stephane M'bia this morning on Twitter: Stephane Mbia ‏@StephaneMbia Dream or Reality ? Loic Rémy! I keep the secret! But not for long Time ^^ #QPR #OM We've been linked to Remy for about a year now. If what M'bia is saying is true, this says to me that Harry was the one that wanted Remy when he was with us. I'd be amazed if he went to QPR with other clubs towards the top of the table supposedly sniffing around.
Goal.com are reporting that we've made an enquiry about eriksen but he won't be able to leave until the summer, with his preferred clubs being barca and RM.
Ajax simply don't sell players in January - we were after Verts this time last year, but that got swiftly punted into touch.
if we're going to do this transfer, we need to not waste any time, and do it at the start of Jan (due to Ajax being worse than Levy over negotiations), with him joining in the summer. if we leave it, we'll miss the boat again. However, waiting till the summer won't solve our creative problems, so we'll still need another option. Or we just sack off our interest and look elsewhere full stop. We can't have another let down in this window by levy leaving everything late. another player has been linked too: massadio hiadara http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massadio_Haïdara
Everyone knows that Lucas Digne is the best young left back in Ligue 1! Sorry, slight correction... Every FM addict knows that Lucas Digne is the best young left back in Ligue 1!
Swansea play the best football and do it on peanuts. They find excellent quality technical players for fractions of what we will pay. Levy is tight so why waste our time with another fruitless pursuit of anyone that will cost 20 million plus. Michu has to be the outstanding buy of the season and the best value. Would you swap Defoe for him , with maybe 10 million on top ? His finishing is as good as defoe's but offers so much more. Maybe straight 16 million may do it. It would nice to see some boldness in Levy. Any way we can all dream.
Laudrup has connections in Spain that helped him bring in Michu - we don't have any Spanish connections, and our scouts (according to Spurcat) were in Holland and South America last season.
Thanks for the info. They can't be doing much of a job in Latin America as we have hardly signed anyone (Sandro) .
We signed Sandro, got gazumped on Oscar, Uvini went to Napoli, and Leandro...let's just skip that for now.
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11661/8305736? Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is not planning any big spending in the January transfer window as key players close on their return from injury. Spurs enjoyed three successive wins last week to lift them fourth in the Premier League and Villas-Boas is satisfied with the players at his disposal. The North Londoners have been linked with several transfer targets, including Shakhtar Donetsk ace Willian and Schalke forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, but the manager has played down talk of a spending spree. The Portuguese boss also feels the return of Younes Kaboul, Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Scott Parkerwill provide a boost to the team. Asked if he would be asking Spurs chairman Daniel Levy for cash in January, Villas-Boas said: "I don't think we need it, to be fair. "We have three top players coming back from injury that played most of the games last season - Younes Kabul, Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Scott Parker. "These will be major additions to our squad and we are happy to continue with this squad." Reception Villas-Boas has received a mixed reception at White Hart Lane since succeeding Harry Redknapp in the summer, but some fans were singing his name during Spurs' 3-0 win at Fulham on Saturday. He added: "The chanting is normal. We just have to continue so they do not change the chant! "I just want them to get behind the team, it's the team that has been absolutely amazing." Well, I guess that puts this thread to bed. Andre... somehow, I don't believe you!!
The away fans have been chanting AVB's name since the off and in numbers. Not sure why they're bringing it up now. Managers rarely talk up spending lots on transfers especially before the window even opens, although we know Levy likes to get good value when we spend and there isn't often good value to be had in January. It will be interesting though as Levy has always backed his new managers with some money initially so it could go eitherway. If you look at our recent January signings though we've had Saha, Nelsen, Pienaar, Keane, Palacios, Chimbonda, Hutton and Woodgate who have all signed in January and quickly found themselves sold on or in the reserves whilst Defoe and Kaboul are the only ones that have really worked for us(jury out on Falque, although he wasn't really a January deal). I guess it depends how much of that Levy puts down to 'Arry and Comolli's poor buying but you can bet it's something he's noticed.
I think that the chant of "Andre, give us a wave" in the build up for the third goal probably woke up a few journalists, as I get the feeling that some of them only watch odds and sods. Some of the misinformed dross that gets printed is astounding.
He can't allow that to affect AVB though, YV. New manager, new start and he needs to be backed. - Not let the past get in the way.
Are you sure it wasn't 'Martin give us a wave' ??, because Jol was in the slightly embarrassing situation where he had turned to wave to Spurs fans just as the goal went in !!
Might've been. I know it was our lot, but I just assumed that it was for our own manager. Poor old Jol. He must've felt so embarrassed!
What about Mountinho? If we was as close to that deal as reported and he was AVB's number one target, then surely we will be back in for him? I can't say I rate Mountinho as highly as 25 million but if we manage to bring him in, then we have Mountinho, Dembele, Sandro & Parker as our options for centre midfield, which isn't too shabby! Any news on Will-I-AM? I know he put in that great performance against the chavs but we need more options in an attacking sense, as we have no real back up for lennon.
Agree with your conclusion. Would have to wonder why he was chasing Moutinho until 11:59 if he was happy with the squad.
To be honest SD, I've said this before, but I'm of the opinion that we were never serious about Moutinho. AVB made it clear all summer that he was the number 1 transfer target. I know levy's got to play the "transfer game", but that should never have been left so late. I believe that Levy was never going to spend the money and it was a deadline day rush with no weight behind it. Just a smokescreen to keep the fans and manager happy after having lost Modric. As a result, everyone's said "ahh well, we were unlucky with Moutinho, we tried". - which is what Levy wanted IMO. when have we ever spent 22mill on a player?! especially as we're sorting out a new stadium and have just spend millions on a new training complex. I just don't buy it.
