As I was up in edinburgh at a gig, I missed yesterday. On returning, I gather that the Forest fans were claiming 'hand-ball' for Macca's goal. Macca was claiming otherwise, but what else would you expect him to say in a post match interview. I certainly couldn't tell from the tele. As the 'header' (or shoulder-er perhaps) was right in front and in full view of the 1740 city fans, honest answers only, was it hand ball? Remember the goal now stands so they can't change the result whatever you say!
I had a good view but it happened too fast to really say. I did'nt even see it touch him and couldn't tell you if it was his leg, face or anywhere in between. What I will say is that I don't understand why so many City fans are saying it was a definite handball when the replay doesn't suggest it was a handball. It seems to me as though the Forest fans are just clutching at straws based on their keeper's half-hearted appeal.
Looked like handball to me, but I don't really care now, we've had enough decisions go against us, so were due a dodgy one!
It's McShane so a handball was probably the only way he could score. I was on the far right of the stand near some partying teens abusing the upper Stand to our right I just saw the ball go across and then end up in the net and the replay's are all **** so it's a tad inconclusive. Alex Bruce grabbed McShane and started laughing and made some slight hints to us that it was handball though
He makes a giant punching motion in the camera view. It is hard to tell if he is just excited it is going in or if the punching motion took the ball into the net. He may be right that it went off his shoulder but that motion sure makes it look like a handball. I should say that I could care less if it was a handball. If he wants to punch it in the net every week and have it count then I am fine with that.
When it's a handball, the ref blows a whistle and the linesman waves a flag and the goal would get disallowed. They didn't so even if it went off his hand, it wasn't handball. Refs decision is always final.
So you are saying that this was not a handball? If that is what you are saying ok. I would say that sometimes a thing is a thing whether or not a person calls it that thing.
I was behind the goal, and it was too fast (for me, anyways) to be able to see what part of his body it struck. I thought it hit his shoulder. Who cares if it is was handball, it wasn't given and we won the game. No point in anyone bitching about it, because there is nothing that can be done to change it...
Whether it was hand ball or not, it doesn't matter now it was a goal, at least Macca was there to put it in. There will be decisions that go against us during the season, so if this was one for us then be happy we got the rub of the green for once.
NOT A CHANCE was it handball. It hit his shoulder but to be clear on what handball is. Its when the hand goes to ball and Not when the ball hits the hand. Either way it was a goal and the fact only 2 Forest players felt it right to complain says it all. Better still it won City the game and was just reward for Paul McShane having another very good game. imo. NB,. Strange how Koren can score with ease from 12 yards out yet fails so badly from 6 yards ?
Indeed John. But it was not handball. McShane should also be given much credit for being there in the first place.
I was just to the right side of the goal. It looked like a blatant handball to me - so much so that I hesitated celebrating and looked at the ref, convinced it would be disallowed.
