Kelvin is to slow at diving, which clearly Adkins has seen. Hence why Davis doesn't play, if any one would come into replace Gazza it will be Boruc.
Thought Clyne was easily our best player yesterday. Shaw did okay, the few times though when he did get in a forward position he turned backwards rather than take his man on. Probably will do in time when he's more confident, saying that he did cut inside right at the end albeit his RH shot went soaring into the upper tier.
So Reading can just shoot in the corners and score?. At least with Gazza he can dive ,i'm guessing you missed the games when Davis played. All teams had to do is kick it near post and he couldn't get down in time. Sad thing is none of our keepers are good enough for all different reasons. Davis can still do the reaction saves, but he is a few seconds slow when it comes to diving.
No, i was at most of the games when SKD played - it would have been no different if either of the other two had played given the opposition imo, and it hasnt improved since SKD was dropped imo. In fact it might have been worse as SKD saved a couple of penalties, as he has on many other occassions - and you have to get down pretty damn quickly to stop them when they are struck low. You keep harping on about SKD not being able to dive quickly - fine thats your opinion but it aint mine.
Because it's true, all 3 of our keepers aren't up to it. People keep as you put it 'harping' onabout Gazza and how he should be dropped and to bring in Davis. When the fact is he isn't up to it as well. Which is a sad thing to see, Davis has been quality for us in the past and has been very loyal. I see him becoming a GK coach here which will be great.
Boruc's only mistakes have been the free kick (Gazza made a free kick mistake against Norwich) and commiting himself against Tottenham, we've improved a lot defensively since we've had Gazza in goal, in fact in our last 5 games we've only conceded 4 and 3 have been Gazzaniga's mistakes, before our back four were all making individual errors. If Boruc had played the last 5 games then we would have let in less than four goals.
Just got home - first visit to Anfield, disappointed with the lack of atmosphere. There would have been no noise if it wasnt for the Saints fans. Clyne was very good, something was not right with Cork - he was knackered, not his usual energetic self. Gazza did nothing wrong, and in didn`t have much to do really - I`d still opt for Boruc however.
The clubs there ain't much better, me and a few mates went after the game. Went back to the hotel couple hours after.
Perhaps all 3 goalies are not up to it as you say, but we have to use what we have and imo i would like to see Kelvin given another chance v Reading & Sunderland. However Adkins in the boss and he will decide - if he sticks with Paulo Gazza then fine, but it wouldnt be my choice. All these supporters forums are full of people having differing opinions on players, and this happens to be mine on our goalkeeping situation.
Apart from giving away a couple of penalties and putting the ball into his own net twice. No, he doesn't much wrong.
With respect...the african cup of nations is not the Premier league. Also players that have outstanding tournaments can often turn out to be complete flops (yes they can also turn out to be as good as they were in the tournament) I'm not judging Mayuka. Am just puzzled how so many keep saying he should be in now. I'm not Puncheon's biggest fan, in fact I think him and Clyne get in each other's way a lot however he is worth his place at the moment. Making things happen and really up for it. With a week's rest he is a definite starter (on form) for me. Then you have the sub argument. Why is it Mayuka 'should' be playing? I remember people slating Nigel for taking Puncheon of in earlier games so what has changed now? FWIW what I have seen of Mayuka was that he did one thing in the Villa game and it got us a penalty. Can't judge him on that really. Looked good against Tottenham but no more than Puncheon has looked. Came on against WBA and may as well not have..........and we haven't seen him since. I would guess because of that WBA appearance as much as anything else. J Rod over Mayuka every time for me. Has been unlucky not to get a couple more goals and also has had more effect. Doesn't matter that I don't think either of them are good enough.
I wanted Mayuka to start one of the 3 games in the 6 days just gone, specially after the Norwich game when Puncheon looked knackered. To me Puncheon is now starter( I admit i didn't think much of him until this season), but that doesn't stop rotating when the players (not just Puncheon) are so tired they can't even attack. That's what happened at Liverpool, the whole midfield was knackered and the nice fast passing we usually do was gone.
