I would never join in with the Adams family song but now we have the even worse 'Jeremy Kyle Song'

Can we not think up more songs FOR our own team rather than just trying to insult other fans?

The JKS was sung at the Peterborough fans????? Obviously the people singing it have no idea what Cambridgeshire is like!

Sorry for the rant this early on a Sunday morning.

    <cheers>

I saw on twitter all morning the hash tag of Jeremy Kyle in CAFC related posts. I was bemused, it's something I've seemingly missed before yesterday. It did make me chuckle the first time, but by the 10th round of it it had lost it's spark.

I love a good sing-song and will join in Valley Floyd Road, The Chris Solly song with the rest but the incest song and now the JKS are just garbage and alienate a lot of fans. I'm also one of the few who sings Red Red Robin all the way through, a fantastic song, I wish more would sing it.

I've never been able to endear myself to the red, red robin. Controversial as it may be, I think it is something that contributes to other fans thinking of us as ''little old charlton''.

Red Red Robin is usually drowned out by Upper North singing something else and anyway who cares if no-one likes it- I don't care!

Ah, so you've been to the Den yesterday ;)

Can I say I hate flares in English football - the clothes or the flame things. They're just goal music for away fans.

    Also hate goal music <ok>

I sing red red robin when the teams walk out at away games <laugh>

Try Kilmarnock, IA. They sing "Paper Roses" there. Now there's a song to get your vocal chords round.

The one that annoys me ever so much is the 16-year olds whom sing "we pay your benefits" at Millwall and pretty much every northern team.

Excuse me, young kid? How much tax have you, personally, paid recently!

The Jimmy Savile song which was aimed at 'udders fans is another cringeworthy effort.

I wasn't at Peterborough or you would have heard from me before since if it is aimed at Cambridgeshire I might take it personally!

I am not the only addick from this county and recently we had one on here from Peterborough.

I have not hear d the song nor do I wish to, I found the Adams family song funny once upon a time when it was first sung against Norwich supporters but it is really poor, low humour.

I also sing the red red robin. It may be "little Charlton" to some but it comes from an era in the late 1940's when we were anything but little.

If for any reason it was not played I would feel that my sense of belonging had been somehow undermined.

Why do people think tradition equates to little old charlton? Listening to the hamsters singing bubbles on MOTD last night it sounded excellent.
I wrote a piece about the Addams family thing on 606 ages ago and got roundly abused for not being a real fan. (mind you A2C leaping to my defence didn't help!)
If those who complain about us in the west not singing thought about it for a minute they'd realise that with my wife, mum and 10 year old son with me I'm not joining in and there are hundreds and hundreds like me.
I don't mind swearing, but that kind of unpleasentness leaves a lot of fans cold.
VFR, and most songs about the players we'll all join in.
One of the funniest things I've ever heard is "Fulham's a S@*t hole, I want to go home".

Realistically is there anything the club can do about these offensive chants? It used to be just the incest song but now there's the Jimmy Savile song and of course the Jeremy Kyle song. The fans who sing them may think they are the heart and soul of Charlton but they're not, as not606 shows. It's odd that nearly all the sound comes from Upper North, but this won't change by getting the rest to sing these songs. Well, if Rangers and Celtic can be forced (mostly by Uefa) to stop the sectarian chants then there must be something to stop this garbage. Just imagine the whole Valley getting behind Charlton the way Celtic fans did against Barca, and they were singing You'll never walk alone, which is something everyone will join in. Maybe Big Dave could start by saying something before the game starts.

With the Brighton game coming up..... I have to say...... and I'll whisper this so 101 doesn't hear....... but.....

    I do still find the..
"Does your boyfriend know your here"...and... "we can see you holding hands" songs quite funny..... even more so because the Brighton fans hate them so much

    I know it's wrong but I just do <laugh>

Agree - I think it's a great bit of banter. My one and only Brighton supporting friend says he finds it hilarious.

Brighton usually reply with 'You're too ugly to be gay'

Had an argument with a2c back on the old 606 about this. I don't think it's offensive, as there's no value judgement being made about gay people. But I wasn't pro diversity n all.

Your row with a2c was probably on my Addams family thread. I agree it has no value judgment attached, it is an observation about the town's reputation and most fans even gay ones take it in good part.

I still think that if the heart and soul,as FHB speculates they call themselves, want us all to join in they should tone it down a bit. ****philia and incest songs aren't funny or clever.
